i received the e-mail on April 5. Maybe they're still processing yours? I feel like they're doing everything super slow! Don't worry!
Thanks, mine is probably still just being processed! I just love being able to check things off my to do list though haha....

I dropped off my commitment deposit on 04/01 and received a confirmation email on 04/05. I have access to a previously established cunyfirst account from my undergrad and I saw that my financial aid award descriptions were available already. I'm hoping they email out the orientation dates soon...hope this helps!
Thanks for this detail! Hmm I don’t have a previous cunyfirst account so I’m hoping they’ll provide instructions on how to set that up soon.

Not yet! I've only gotten an e-mail on how to set up cunyfirst. Did you receive that?
Oh, I didn’t receive that yet! When did you get that email? I also submitted my deposit on 3/26, in case that helps.

As we're all anxiously waiting to find out about orientation, I found this that might be helpful!
Thanks for sharing!! Has anyone received info on setting up email or anything like that?

Hey! I put my check in the mail the day after you did. Did you receive any information or see the check cleared from your account yet?
Hey! I haven’t received any info yet or seen the check cleared from my account. But I emailed Juliana Lopez last week to confirm she received my letter and she said she did and we should all be receiving more info by end of this week. Hope that helps!

I was in the same predicament and decided the debt just wasn’t worth it to me, when I know I’ll be making great connections and having an equally good experience at my local state school. Keep in mind that I definitely think this is true if you’re interested in a clinical track. If you’d like to get into macro work post-grad, having a big name might help, and may be worth the cost.
It’s too soon to tell but I know that not having to worry about finances and loans makes me a MUCH happier person. And I just keep this in mind—if you were qualified enough to get into those top programs, you will be fine wherever you decide to go. It’s your motivation, drive, and commitment that will help you succeed in any and all programs!

No, I didn’t receive a confirmation email. I’m already a CUNY student btw so I’m not sure if you are, but this was my experience. What they’ll do is that they’ll process your commitment. Hunter College should email you within a week and a half or so stating that you are officially a Hunter student. Also, I got the same info as the person above. Lopez said the same thing.
Thanks for providing more info on the process! I’m not a CUNY student so any info on how Hunter works is helpful.
It seems like we’ll be in the same cohort then—looking forward to meeting you and others in this forum in person!!

I called Ms. Lopez and she told me that we'll be receiving an e-mail by the end of the month with information on orientation ETC. Since you sent them a check, you'll know that they received it once the money gets taken out of your bank account. I'd say if you don't see the money taken out by the end of this week, you can always call to confirm they've received it.
This was super helpful—thanks so much!! I’ll plan to call them if I don’t see the money being withdrawn from my account by end of the week.

For those of you who’ve submitted your enrollment deposit—did you receive a confirmation email of some kind? And if so, does it provide more info on any next steps we need to take? I mailed in my form and check on Saturday and wanted to know if I should plan to call them if I don’t hear anything. Thanks!!
(P.S. good luck to those who are still in the interview stages!)

I was curious about this as well! But yeah, I definitely recommend attending one of their info sessions - I've been to two and I got a lot out of both of them. I think I am going to accept my offer but I may defer for a year, I still haven't decided.
I was wondering where you ended up with this. Are you deferring due to the out of state costs? If so, that probably does make sense especially if you’re not in a rush to start the program.

@ML878 I have been accepted into Pitt and am definitely considering going. I am going to visit the school in a few weeks just to make sure that I like it there. I am a little nervous about moving to another state that I've never lived in, but I've heard positive things about the program and I've heard its an awesome city. I am interested in working in gerontology and I know they have a strong program and fellowship for that. On paper it seems like a great match, just need to go and visit to make sure! How did your visit go? I recently noticed it dropped from #11 to #17 or #19 (can't remember exactly which) on the rankings of the best MSW programs, and I am a little curious about why... Anyways, good luck with deciding-- I know it is stressful.
I am also definitely nervous about moving to another state, especially by myself (and my cat). Where are you coming from and what other schools are you considering? I’m from NYC and it’s between Hunter and Pitt. Michigan would’ve been amazing but it’s too damn expensive!
I didn’t really visit the school honestly. I was more in town to check out the city, and I did enjoy my time there, in terms of things to do and places to eat. I’m Asian so I was also seeing things from a minority perspective. The city isn’t as diverse as I’d like, but nowhere will really be like NYC! I had a brief meeting with Philip Mack and the meeting was ok. I didn’t really learn much. I would’ve wanted to sit in on a class or speak with a student, but I didn’t have time. I was planning to attend the Welcome weekend in 2 weeks but I couldn’t take time off from work ?.
I didn’t realize their rankings dropped! I’d also like to know why... I’m interested in integrated healthcare and I think Pittsburgg in general is a good place for healthcare.
Hope your visit goes well—I’d love to hear what you think afterwards!

My decision was posted and unfortunately, I did not get in. Which is okay because my academic advisor once told me that grad schools are based off a matching system and that just meant I Hunter wasn't going to be a good match for me. So that means I'll officially be going to Kean University! So, I'll be making the drive from Missouri to New Jersey! Good luck to everyone who are still currently waiting on their decisions and congratulations to everyone who got in, you all are going to do wonderful.
I’m sorry to hear about Hunter. But a HUGE congratulations on Kean University!! School is what you make of it, and you’re going to do great there! Good luck on that big move!

Just wanted to revive this thread—anyone else accepted into Pitts and considering going? Or anyone who’s put down their deposit? I had a chance to visit Pittsburgh recently and now it’s back on the table (decision making is incredibly stresssful and hard!!) and it’d be great to hear from others who are considering accepting Pitts and why.

Yayyyy congratulations!!! It seems like those who didn’t get an interview are all advanced standing?! Where are you planning to live?
I’m actually on the traditional 2 year track, and was accepted without an interview (others in this forum also were accepted without interviews. I read somewhere that Hunter may be considering changing up their admissions process). I’m from NYC and will likely continue to live at home in Queens. But if you’re from out of state and would like housing suggestions, happy to help however I can. I know it’s always stressful trying to figure out housing!

For those who have been accepted to Hunter for Fall 2019 and are planning on going--I'd love to connect, especially if any of you are from the city too! And if you know of any social media groups for admitted students, please do share--it'd be great to get to know others in my class (disclaimer: I haven't officially submitted my deposit, but unless I get a new fin aid package from the school I'm considering, I'll be going to Hunter!!)
And for those who are still waiting to hear back or have interviews scheduled--good luck!!

I got the same email yesterday. I’m still really interested in the IH curriculum, however. That $$ would have been nice!
Aw, sorry to hear. The applicant pool must’ve been very competitive! I know you said you’re definitely going either way—have you already submitted your deposit? And are you local to the area or will you be moving?
And if you know of any admitted students social media group, please do share! I’ve been trying to find but couldn’t find any.

Hello!
I'm currently a first year in the program, at U Albany if you have any questions, just let me know and I'd be happy to share my experiences
I would love to hear your experience!! I did a bit of a read through of your old posts and it seems you come from a similar background—I’m also from Queens, also considering Hunter, but I actually want to get out of the city which is why Albany is appealing, but I don’t know anything about the area or the job opportunities there. I’ll try to send you a PM so we can connect!

Hey all,
I know some people have heard back from SUNY Albany, so I wanted to create a thread for us to discuss.
I received news of my acceptance (I applied in early January for the 2 year full time track) yesterday and found out I received a graduate assistant position today. I’m not sure if I’ll be attending, but would like to hear from others who have decided to go or are considering it as well. Thanks!

For those who are waiting on the integrated health scholarship decision: I received an email about an hour ago letting me know I was rejected. Hopefully others have better news!

Does anyone know the deadline we have to send a deposit by for those who applied and were accepted by the priority deadline? For some reason I'm having trouble finding that information.
In my acceptance letter, I have the deadline of 3/31.

FYI, I reached out about scholarships and was informed they’re generally awarded during the first semester of classes. Professors typically will nominate students or you will need to fill out an application (these don’t become available until start of the semester, with September deadline). Decisions are usually made by December. Scholarships range from $1,200 to full tuition. Hope this helps!

I received emails on setting up my cuny email account and immunization requirements earlier this morning! Really relieved to feel like I’m moving forward with next steps, but @Yve_ makes a good point that it’s also good to take it easy while we still can! ?
