This is super late, but where do you get your daily update? Is it an app? Sounds kinda like a horoscope for your personality, which sounds so cool!

Congrats!!! Fingers crossed there’s some movement for you!! I applied there too, but haven’t heard anything, so I’m thinking maybe an implied rejection if nothing by end of day.

Me too and SAME.

UT Austin Acceptances

Congrats on the interview!! Fingers crossed for you! I’m told negotiation is a thing we should be doing, so perhaps you can use higher offers to help at UT— not sure how much they’ll budge, but worth a shot I know I’ll shoot lol -
UT Austin Acceptances

Hey, girl, hey!!—our POI might definitely be in overlap, which would be so cool. For me, it’s a fantastic fit, so currently my top choice of places I’ve gotten into so far. Rn I’m at 5a/2r/15p, so still gonna wait to make a decision. Im also really worried about the funding situation. I’m not sure if it’s because it feels low in comparison to some other schools or if it’s just explained in a way that makes it feel lower and stressful bc it’s hard to understand. But I also have general anxiet about going from a full time salary to a stipend, so it could just be me. -
UT Austin Acceptances

Hello friends! I study modern and contemporary cultural productions of women across the African diaspora through an intersectional and Postcolonial lens. I am SO excited about UT Austin, but I will visit a bit earlier than the dates they’ve provided. So early to think about decisions, I know, but anyone have an inkling about what they’ll do? -
To Emory interviewees: had a phone interview with a professor I won’t get to meet due to our different traveling dates. They asked me one question about my SoP, and then left the rest of the time for me to ask them questions. Honestly they were so nice and warm that I really enjoyed the whole thing and want to go to Emory even more than I already did. Hoping this is indicative of what the interview days will look like!

Ugh still silence for me. I just want an answer! -
Posting from the afterlife bc I’m literally dead rn. Accepted to UT Austin!!!!!!!!!!!!! Email popped up while in a meeting with my advisor who happened to be emailing my primary POI all day. After, got a call from Alabama but couldn’t answer bc i was dead.

Thanks! That’s both really exciting and nerve-wrecking...

I have so many questions about this given that their big interview day is Feb 8. Are they gonna let us know as soon as we leave? Do they already know who they’re admitting and just inviting us to make sure we’re real people?
-
Just posted re an email from Northeastern. Add them to the list of schools that interview—i wonder if this will be a growing trend?

Anyone been like tracking most likely times to get contact? Lol I feel like the earliest I’ve gotten was after 10am, I got an email at 4am once, and several in the evening/night, after standard working hours.

I was practicing interviews with one of my MA professors this week, and she said it was standard practice for them not to ask follow up questions, even in person. I think she said it was to make it totally fair.

That’s awesome!!! Congrats!!!

Woohoo all you Temple admits!

When I spoke to my advisor about retaking the GRE because of my mediocre scores, she told me to buy a new pair of boots instead. I told her I knew there’d be a gatekeeping minimum at many universities, and she asked me if I really wanted to attend a school that would disqualify me solely based on that, considering schools like UC Riverside, Harvard (beginning this year) and Purdue (beginning next year) no longer require the GRE at all. So I bought the boots. I scored V 158 Q 145 AW 5.0. So far this cycle, I have received two interviews and three PhD acceptances. So buy the boots y’all!

I have my fingers crossed we hear something tomorrow based on when they contacted last year, but next week could also happen—it’s so much worse waiting when it feels closer!
-
Ughhh the waiting game... Implied rejection for me from Wisconsin, and not high hopes for Duke. Anyone applied to Carnegie Mellon? Past data shows they should be in contact soon. @WildeThing What date did you project to hear from Vanderbilt? Been super anxious about schools meant to make decisions this and next week, but not sure if that’ll be better than waiting in silence in the lull before February decisions.

I had a professor who that happened to, but on the interview panel to work at a university. They had published an article critiquing one of their field’s cornerstone theorists, who happened to be on the panel. They said the person acknowledged it and was just like, “thanks for the engagement.” And they still got the job in the end. In this process my profs have been reminding me that not everyone in departments agree nor do they all like each other. But I think your having deeply engaged with the work of a faculty member there, even in disagreement, will ultimately show you know your field.

FORREAL.

Posting to keep the data going! haha it’s been so helpful to look at past data to predict when to expect what! @mandelbulb Thanks!!

Woot woot! We could be cohort mates! Congrats!!
