  1. Three cheers for UT offering the seminar, "Weak Theory." friggin stoked.
  2. Will probably be Texas (Austin). I did my undergrad at Texas, but there's been a significant time gap. So now I will Texas my Texas again in Texas. @dilby I got, and still get, a lot of vicarious excitement and happiness from your Yale news.
  3. I declined an offer from USC today if anyone has been waitlisted
  4. embarrassed to say I called Yale GSAS............. "Are applications for the English Department still under review?" "Yes"
  5. “What We Talk About When We Talk About Yale” by us.
  6. Teaching at the high school level. I am in my 5th year teaching now. I knew I wanted an advanced degree when I started getting my teaching certificate, but my spouse beat me to the punch and went and got himself accepted at a 4 year pharmacy program. In the meantime I have taught all levels - remediation, "regular," and pre-AP/AP/honors. If I can't land a TT job in my home state I would honestly be happy teaching HS until I retire. I would still pursue research projects and/or attend conferences, and you can still publish as an independent scholar.

  8. I got the call at 5pm on a Sunday so I would not be surprised if they keep notifying this week.
  9. Whats that sappy quote from Dead Poet's Society about doctors saving lives, but poetry gives people a reason to live? That.
  10. I think it makes sense to contact them. It seems to be just one person handling all the online paperwork stuff so I’m sure you’re fine.
  11. Yes hopefully the visit is the same. My interests are geocriticism and 19th C / fin de siecle British, and lit theory. You?
  12. There seems to be a lot of us here, wanted to introduce myself and say hi. Looking forward to meeting some of you on March 28. UT was my undergrad institution (class of 2012) so I was pretty surprised when they took me back.
