  1. People on here have heard from all of those schools if I am not mistaken—definitely at least RISD and MICA if you look through old pages of this thread.
  2. You will make more money at least.
  3. UCLA should be April 15th *if* the offer includes financial support, according to the Council of Graduate Schools. Otherwise, I have no idea.
  4. It is not always about skill, experience, portfolio, statement, how well you interviewed, or any combination of the above. Sometimes they just need someone different to balance out the cohort. Congrats on SMFA!
  5. Is today notifcation day?
  6. Yes! None of us should be going into crazy debt for an MFA, and congrats on the full ride at Penn State! My MFA philosophy is to not consider going into debt unless it’s Yale.
  7. PAFA is undoubtedly a good school, but debt-free plus $10k/year on top at Ole Miss seems like a no-brainer to me.
  8. I think most people are paying that if not more. Yes, some programs are cheaper/free, but $44k isn’t really so bad in the grand scheme of things. Sure, less/free is better, but you also have to consider if you would want to do another round of applications/year of waiting.
  9. I don’t think the financial aid office offers you anything other than standard, non-subsidized loans. The art department is probably where your tuition/GTA funding comes from.
  10. If you don’t need a diploma, I am sure almost any art program in the country would accomodate what you are looking for. Or you could transfer your old credits in to cover the gen-ed and then focus on your studios while working on the undergrad art degree. But why do you want the MFA at this point? It seems a little early.
  11. I think it’s crazy how much these degrees cost considering this isn’t exactly a lucrative career path for most people.
  12. FYI, two Yale MFA grads that I know said a lot of people cry at their first crit because they tend to get mauled. Well, actually she said “everyone” cries, but I feel like that has to be an exaggeration. So have fun!
  13. I feel like they would have been more specific if it was an interview offer. That sounds like an automated newsletter or something like that.
  14. Can you post the letter with personal info redacted?
  15. Just order and send the transcript in today. To clarify, official transcripts are always (in my experience) ordered directly from the school you graduated from and sent directly in a sealed envelope to the applied school.
  16. Based only on that, it just means they haven’t decided on anything.
  17. DHL is probably an acceptance packet if I had to guess.
  18. You should be able to find discussions on low res programs through the search function or by using a search engine of choice. From what I have gathered previously though is that they usually do not offer funding, so that is something to consider. Best of luck, but this is the 2018 thread!
  19. @sparky7184 Hang in there! From what I can tell, we are all in the same boat as far as anxiety about this process goes. On the bright side though, this at least shows how important furhering our studies is to us. Good luck!
  20. They seem to do it early. I know someone who got their UDel acceptance a few hours ago via email, plus all of the three GrdCafe results show notifications going out within a week or so after 2/15, assuming the deadline has stayed static. Best of luck to you! Edit: Also, there was no interview.
  21. Yes, it sounds like they are still considering you as a backup, or they are at the least very polite in rejecting.
  22. Well put, and yes, this process sucks. I really underestimated how stressful it would be. Hang in there! I just went for a walk in a nearby nature preserve and made a bunch of photos. It felt great to make a lot of new work and be alone in the tranquilty of those woods. I might try to keep making work to distract me from the waiting. Best of luck to you and everyone else!
