    Fulbright 2020-21

It seems a little late but that doesn’t mean that it is impossible and also don’t get caught up in what everyone else is doing, if you think you can put together a solid application in time you should go for it. Also if you are applying to a graduate degree in Scotland or other places in the UK if it is a partnership award not all of those require letters of affiliation or admission at the time of application, so check the website to double check what you need. But you do have to go through the university admissions process as well. I cold emailed the person I want to work with in Zambia and he replied the next day, so you never know the process could move much quicker than you think.

Applying to a Fulbright to do my dissertation field research in Zambia. This will be my first time applying for a Fulbright so I am a little nervous especially since I will need to develop a completely different dissertation project if I do not get it.

I got nothing so far as well. I am trying to just focus on a paper that I have to write instead of constantly refreshing my email

Boren Awards account posted on Twitter “almost time” So hopefully by “almost” they mean sometimes in the next few hours.

Yeah I posted the link to the Boren handbook in an earlier post, you cannot change your language, but it seems like once you receive the award they are pretty flexible. I think they are more interested in your commitment to language learning and your future plans than locking you into a particular study abroad program

Based on the Boren handbook, you can make changes to your program after you have been awarded the fellowship, but everything has to go through an approval process and of course needs to be in the same language that your original applied to study. Not sure you can switch to a domestic program though https://www.borenawards.org/sites/default/files/pub/Boren Awardee Handbook 2018.pdf

General fellowship applicant to Tanzania, one budget email on March 19th. No second budget email. They may have just streamlined the process, or maybe the applicant pool size has an affect

@moussdutoxx from the spreadsheet it does not seem to be a direct indicator, but seems at least positively correlated. However, I would also say that the small sample size of the spreadsheet makes it difficult to say one way or the other. I would think the second budget email is more likely based on the area or location. The funding is probably a set amount so they need to know how many people they can fund if people are under budget. Of course I am just speculating, and honestly it’s probably not going to make a difference anixety-wise until I the accepted or rejected emails come out.

I just received a budget review email for a fellowship, my guess is they send them out by region or by program if you are doing AFLI etc. so no need to panic if you haven’t received one yet.

Applied for a Fellowship in Tanzania for Swahili, honestly glad to have everything submitted, but not excited to have wait for awhile for the results.
