  1. I think that's just general stinginess - NPSIA is a professional-oriented program too and that doesn't stop them from providing a bit more funding than that.
  2. I don't have the exact numbers but it's approximately 9-9.5k per year (the exact numbers won't be up on Carleton's website until a few months from now. You can look up the 2018 numbers though and figure in a few hundred more.)
  3. It's been up the whole time for me (current student.) Not sure what's going on there.
  4. International Organizations / Global Policy. My friend who got in with me is also doing IOGP.
  5. Oh congrats! MPM is good as well. I was considering it (it was certainly promoted heavily because it's under the same department as my undergrad) but in the end, I figured I'd just stick with NPSIA. I'm not sure I even have an exact reason why.
  6. Interesting. Obviously my school was biased (Carleton... enough said) but I can't say I've heard anything to that effect, at least not about fading. To be perfectly honest I'd never heard of Munk until I started researching NPSIA applications in the past and stumbled onto this forum! I think the narrative about it getting harder to get those top tier jobs is because everyone wants to be at GAC, and GAC isn't hiring anyone as I went on a big rant a few pages ago. Still, though, if you want to work for government NPSIA is better in my mind. Or uOttawa's program, I always mix up their name because it's so similar. Congrats on the full ride, btw. What program was it if you don't me asking?
  7. I don't think the max amount is formalized, it's just anecdotal. I haven't seen anyone get higher than that amount and I've seen some crazy candidates in the past that made my GPA and work experience look like nothing. As for timelines, yeah that's unfortunate. I know a few people in the same boat who aren't sure what to do with the timelines. I've already accepted my offer but I only applied to NPSIA, so that decision is made for me. If all else fails you can accept it on the last day and then, if you get into an intl school you'd rather go to, you can rescind your acceptance. They're not going to particularly like it, but you can do it.
  8. I had to reread this a few times. I assume you mean that across *both* years, TAing would've paid ~20k but is half for both years, with RA only one year? No one I have seen has ever gotten more than ~26 or 27k from NPSIA (I've talked to many of them) so I would assume they made up the difference between that 'max' amount and what you got for the half-TA position in scholarships, didn't they? At the very least, that's what mine looks like: still comes out to 26k across all sources. Personally I'd rather have the shortfall made up in scholarships... Also, Carleton does half-TAing positions all the time. Courses hire for 130 hours or 65 hours on a regular basis - I've been a TA several times here. Last semester I was on a TA team for a course where I was doing 130 hours but the NPSIA part of the team were only doing 65 hours. It's pretty common.
  9. I also did, but unlike @RLNCC180 mine was 1500 all told, 750 each Fall/Winter. All told I got the 'Domestic Entrance Masters', the Joubin-Selig one and whatever 'Scholarship Departmental 2' is meant to mean in terms of scholarships. I got half and half. But I don't see who I'm doing research for, no. It's not in Central.
  10. Thank you My friend (same program) also just heard back today with the same package. I know some people were concerned about funding being reduced but at least based on people I talked to who went from my program to NPSIA last year, it seems about comparable.
  11. No, it came through with the official offer of admittance in Carleton Central. My application status went from Recommend to Assessment -> Review in Progress -> Decision Made in <24 hours, it was really weird how it suddenly updated.
  12. I just got my funding package from NPSIA even though they said it’d take a few weeks. 26k, including scholarships, TAships and RA. They only gave me a 1/2 TAship for second year but that’s almost certainly based on the fact that I did advanced standing courses with them and might not take the full 2 years.
  13. @GradSchoolWot Yeah I'm lucky, I grew up here in Ottawa so it was an easy choice for me. Ping me when you need a hand! @pokegenie absolutely, I'll hold mini-tours of campus for TGC forums users ? NPSIA is in one of the nicer buildings on campus too which helps a lot.
