  1. Just wanted to pass along encouragement to the next round of PREP students! As a current PREP and someone with grad acceptances this season, I'm a testament to how good a PREP program can be for you. I'm of course willing to answer any questions or give advice, feel free to reach out! (Applied to Genetics and Toxicology Ph.D programs, interest in Reproductive Biology and Environmental Medicine)
  2. Hello, I'm currently trying to decide between two very different programs, that are both great in their own respect. I'm wondering what advice others recommend in terms of criteria to help with decisions. Program A is what I had initially considered my dream program, the research is very interesting and I've made some good connections already with PIs. The title of the Ph.D is also the field I ideally would prefer. The atmosphere here would be more like going into industry as it is an independent research institution and I think would make for an easy transition to that lifestyle after I receive my degree. It's in a cute location but there is much to be desired in terms of things to do as it is a small town with limited access to shopping and travel. In addition, this program requires more logistical planning for finances as the first semester I would be in a large city with a high cost of living, and then would move again to the small town for the rest of the program. Program B is at the school I am now, so I already know plenty of students and PIs. This program is also hosted in a university so it has a more traditional grad school feel, with more organizations and events. Unfortunately, there is limited research I could do here in my specific interest and the Ph.D is in a different field than I had initially wanted, although the graduates in this field are highly sought after. This program is in a small city with plenty of things to do and easy access to airports or even larger cities for travel. Both program have locations with fairly similar weather and distance to family so neither of those are a problem for me. I am also worried about leaving the program I am in now, as it is the same department as Program B and I do know plenty of people, and worry about burning bridges by not staying here. I appreciate all and any advice, ever since my first interview I've been worried about making a decision.
  3. I'm glad I found this thread, it's making my 4 rejections feel a little less painful
  4. I'm interviewing with one person on Thursday, Dr. Alcaide. And just received another email from Dr. Wortis to set up another on Monday next week. Dr. Wortis has been somewhat slow to respond so it could be they're just backed up.
  5. I've heard back from both Tufts and Rochester, and I've got interviews with both this week. Still haven't heard anything from Michigan PREP, has anyone else?
