  1. I looked through the forums to see if there was a thread for this, but could not find one. Forgive me if there is one and I’ve missed it, but I thought it would be nice to see one!
  2. There’s a chance you’ve been waitlisted, if first round offers went out and you haven’t heard anything. Sometimes silence means they don’t want to reject you so you can be an alternate if some people turn down offers. You never know! Good luck!
  3. I applied in 3 cycles; first round rejected, second accepted to two with funding, and this round waitlisted (it’s a long story, one I wouldn’t wish on anyone). But! Having been on the inside now, what I can tell you if you decide to reapply is yes, they look at GRE scores, so maybe retake, but it’s all about who you know and who wants to work with you. I have decent scores, have worked in my field, taught at university level for a few years, presented at conferences, and have publications, but because I didn’t network well I got in by the skin on my teeth. Knowing and communicating with someone on the inside who will vouch for you is absolutely key. I can’t stress this enough. Go to conferences and meet as many people you can at the programs you want. That will help you more than anything.
  4. I am currently in the same boat. It’s terrible to sit and wait, especially when it seems like everything went your way! I literally have almost the same story. I hope you hear really positive news, and soon!
  5. I have a weird situation. This is my second round of applying to the same university for a PhD program. The first go around, I was waitlisted and invited out, but committed to another school. Now I’m reapplying and it’s radio silence. This week last year was when I found out about the invite, and I’m positive they are already having their invite this month. Do you all think I got rejected this go around? The wait is killing me.
