  2. What?! That is so crazy...and of course makes so much sense...let apps sit for a month and a half...no. Haha

  4. Yep, I would agree with the early due date factor...though I'm still waiting to hear from my other Dec. 15 school (Texas). Slackers. Haha. I think CSDCAS also tends to slow things down a bit too.

  6. Yeah that's what my parents said when I told them I was freaking out. I just got worried when their financial aid website recommended submitting by Feb.15 in order for it to be in their office by March 1. I didn't include tax info because I never make enough money on my summer job(s) to have to file. Depressing, right?
  7. Just realized I filed my FAFSA a week later than intended and it may not get to UNC by their March 1 deadline. *headdesk*

  10. Woo! Another Penn State-er! I was beginning to think I was the only one that applied there! Good luck with the rest of your apps (and congrats on your acceptances)!

  12. I didn't specifically avoid CSDCAS when deciding to apply to schools, but it was a slight factor in my decision-making. I applied to zero schools on CSDCAS and, while it was a pain to follow six different sets of instructions for six different applications (and sometimes more, because a few schools had grad school AND departmental apps), it really beat the stress that CSDCAS seemed to put on a lot of my peers. I think if CSDCAS is actually going to be effective and worthwhile, all (or most) of the schools have to use it. And it needs a significant overhaul.
  13. Hey! I'm not sure yet...I am waiting to hear back from some of my other schools first, but I do really love UNC so there's a good chance!

  15. Nope, I did not apply to any Indiana schools. Good luck with UIUC! What a great school. I am sort of regretting my decision not to apply there

  17. Oh goodness. Von's and Greyhouse are two of the things I will miss most next year. Good luck to you too!

  19. PURDUEEEEE! I'm an undergrad there now and am in love with all things Boilermaker. I chose not to apply to grad school there because A) it is really tough to get in and I just want to go to a new place---NOT that there is anything wrong with Purdue! I have just been an Indiana girl my whole life and would like a change of scene. Good luck! I heard from my friend who works in the SLHS office that the professors met to make final decisions tonight. So hopefully good things will be coming your way soon! I'll be pulling for you!

  21. Whew! Their "average student" profile is going to have much higher stats this year, I bet.

  23. Yes, that is how I try to explain it too. Sometime people begin to understand but often they don't. I eventually say that it's just probability: someone HAS to be rejected, and the more applicants there are, the more likely it will be that the rejection will go to you, regardless of how qualified you might be. I suspect someone in statistics could have worded that much more eloquently...
