  1. Yeah! I'm soon to be a Purdue grad! (graduating from my undergrad, that is ) Let me know if you have any questions about West Lafayette or anything and I'll do my best to help!
  2. I am (in no particular order, and obviously not all at the same time!): --enjoying being in a fun class, aka jazz dance --taking a course called The British Novel for pass/fail credit. The reading alone is eating up my time nicely (and the protagonist in the novel has far too many problems for me to feel okay with complaining about my wait for letters) --catching up on my favorite TV show (The Big Bang Theory!) --trying to finish up my lab research project --carving out some time to just be a college kid and enjoy my last semester, aka sleeping in and bar-hopping every so often --reading a cooking blog religiously Also, I'm so jealous of everyone and anyone who has a puppy.
  3. Hello all! My application process has been pretty stress-free thus far...the worst part is waiting. Waiting waiting waiting. For things to get into/through our lovely mail system (aka transcripts and rec letters--why those can't be electronically submitted for all schools is beyond me) as well as waiting for DECISIONS (dun dun dunnnnn). Thankfully I managed to escape CSDCAS. Best wishes to everyone else applying! Here's hoping we all get into our dream schools (with full funding )
  4. I think you've got a shot. Your GRE scores are fantastic (even the 4.0 writing--I've been told that isn't the most relevant for SLP master's programs) but the GPA is a tad low. Your experience seems really great. Some schools do require/appreciate candidates who have taken some of the speech prereqs before entering their master's program. I think schools run the gamut from "We'll take any fabulous candidates regardless of their background" to "You're STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to have taken most or all of the prereq coursework". I'm not sure where Vanderbilt falls on the spectrum. So my advice would be to look into some prereqs if you haven't already. Good luck! I also applied to Vanderbilt (and your undergrad school, UT Austin).
  5. Everything is *technically* done on my end as far as apps go for me. Three of my six apps are IN and waiting for one more recommender to send in his letters. The other three have February deadlines and, as a result, I'm waiting til my fall grades post before I send off those applications...but they're all filled out and ready to go, save for any drastic changes in my GPA. Won't hear back til March at the earliest. YUCK!
  6. School days
  7. I'm applying to 6 schools...like the above poster, I'm in speech-language pathology. Two are Top 10 schools, two are Top 25, and two are...low. Not that I'm taking too much stock in rankings, as I'm looking more for personal fit and relevance to my clinical/research interests.
  8. Hey Germie, Not sure if you're still following this post or not, but I stumbled upon it and just want to say welcome to Purdue! I'm doing my undergrad here (I'm a senior) and I really hope you enjoy your time here. Honestly, when I first came to school here I wasn't very excited--I really wanted to go to school out of state and I'm from Indiana--but after 3 years here, I have to say this school is a hidden gem. People in SLHS are just great to work with and I have learned a lot here. Good luck with everything!
