Hey everyone, thanks for starting this thread @benmaterials! I just committed to the MS in Analytics program, and have started looking around for housing in the downtown Evanston area (off-campus). The only thing I wonder is how soon one should start the process.
I haven't seen a forum for admitted students thus far, so I think it would be great to start a facebook group for admitted grad students to connect, find housing, etc.
Hey @nyan_cat, while I think having a solid math background is important, I wouldn't turn down the NYU program just because of a lack of theoretical experience. I'd honestly argue that the heavy mathematical aspect of the program will better prepare you for a Data Science role. Feel free to dm me if you want to chat.
Which Stats program are you looking at? While I'd typically go for the funded option in most ties, I think the curriculum/faculty can make a huge difference in your experience.
@nyan_cat I saw that as well on the LinkedIn page, but I was pretty surprised at the size of the class. I'm currently debating between NYU, Northwestern (Analytics), and Washington, and I like the idea of a being in a smaller cohort. Not sure if that will ultimately make much of a difference though
