Hi, I'm a current UBC student. The audiology program is small, they only have 12 spots and receive a lot less applications. I'm not sure what the specific numbers for SLP applicants are, but the majority of applications are for SLP, so the estimate applicant number would be higher than 50:50. My guess is closer to 90:10 or 80:20 ish

I honestly did not have much research experience at all. The extent of my research experience was this small scale research project that I had to do for a upper level class. I talked about that in my LOI as well as the areas of SLP that I’d be interested in potentially researching and I think my other volunteer experience made up for it. I volunteered at an acoustics conference and one of my professors that wrote my reference letter was aware of that, so I think she may have mentioned that as well (and I had that on my resume also).

I know plenty of people who love Edmonton or that this is not an issue for them.) While I know they have a great program, I know it would be hard for myself if I’m not happy with where I live. I also just don’t see myself in Alberta, that’s not where I want to work after I graduate so I’m choosing to go to a university that is closer to where I hope to end up working, so that I can make more local connections.

I will be accepting my offer for UBC and will be declining my acceptances to UofA and UOttawa as well as my waitlist spot at Dalhousie. Best of luck to everyone waiting!

Just got my offer from UBC as well! Also accepted at UofA and UOttawa, so I will be declining two of those for any hopeful waitlisters. Now just to decide where I want to go!

Hi! I was also accepted to Alberta and Ottawa, congrats! (Still waiting on UBC) I was just wondering what direction you’re leaning toward? I love the idea of doing the program in French and I love the city of Ottawa, however it seems like UofA’s program is more developed and has a lot of great opportunities. Just wondering what your thoughts were!
