  1. I emailed an administrator who sent out waitlist notifications a month ago for more information on the waitlist process (my position, etc.), didn't hear back from him, emailed the DGS and received confirmation from her that she'd received my email and would get back to me that week. It's now been several weeks. I followed up with her again over a week ago. I know departments and faculty members are dealing with a lot of transition and work right now, but I'm also trying not to hold up a school that has admitted me. Is it rude or annoying to keep emailing? Should I just assume I'll never get a response?
  2. How are people going about admissions communications in this time? 3. University of Dayton was given 24 hours notice. Students were scrambling for transportation and packing or finding alternative options if they couldn't go home. They could apply for extenuating circumstances to stay on campus (like international students, queer students possibly)
  4. I imagine at this point that it might just be an oversight. Might be worth emailing them to ask
  5. It’s possible, but the email I got was “your status was updated on the portal” which I’ve gotten from other schools Most schools just upload the letter (generic but with a name) to the portal
  6. UIC, by far, had the rudest rejection I’ve gotten this cycle. This is the notification. No letter or content, no “personalized” email (even like auto tagging first names). If you click “more additional information” it just takes you to a generalized university webpage called “Denied Application” Unprofessional and insincere.
  7. Is anyone else (especially those accepted only to 1 or 2 programs) nervous that they'll arrive to a visit and not like the school?
  8. I've been talking to different offices at UC Davis (admitted not yet accepted) because most UC's (through SHIP) don't cover cochlear implants, which I have and need to communicate. I've been rerouted through so many difference offices and am growing more and more concerned about my options. Have you guys had any success appealing coverage in UC or university insurance programs? Thanks
  9. Stipends are, but tuition remission is not. (you don't have to pay taxes on a 'tuition scholarship' that you never see)
  10. I have an acceptance I'm happy about, but I also am really hoping to get off the UT-Austin waitlist. I want to email back and ask them about the waitlist, if it's ranked by field and if they can tell me where I am on it, etc. The admissions email came from Grad Program Coordinator's email, but its signed by the Associate Chair/Graduate Advisor; so....do I respond to the email address it came from or to the person who signed it?
  11. I'm in the same situation; my SO and I are serious, but he isn't really willing to consider long distance or relocating. However, he's always said that he wants me to make the choice for my career that I need to make, and although I hope we can work something out, he understands that if I get into a program I'm going. This is such a tough field (as we all know) that I always felt like if I turned down an opportunity now, I'd really regret it later on. Best of luck to you guys ❤️
  12. Tbh I think it's unprofessional and inconsiderate to not even send an email at the same time or previous to updating the website.
