I declined my offers at McMaster, Western, and McGill, and accepted at U of T.

Hi everyone!
I was curious if anyone could let me know about their experience as an SLP student at McMaster? I'm finding it difficult to find anything from a student's perspective related to their SLP program. Thank you!!
 
 

Hi Everyone,
The McGill undergraduate association held an online panel of first year S-LP students from a bunch of schools in Canada. If someone needs help with a decision, they gave a lot of useful information in this interview. I believe the students said they would put their contact info in the comments if anyone wants to contact them directly. Just thought I would share!

Hey all, I somehow had crazy luck and ended up getting accepted everywhere I applied. Just wanted to say that I will be declining Western and most likely McMaster as well, so for anyone on those waitlists, a spot should open up

Hooray! Congrats! I was completely in shock as well. Maybe I'll see you there!

Does anyone know if COVID-19 will affect any dates for acceptances/rejections/etc.? Just wondering, because I've heard that all the schools/faculties are pretty much shutting down (and parents may need to stay home if they have children because those schools are canceled too), so I was thinking there may be some sort of delay? I hope not, but I also don't know when the universities officially make their decisions/submit them to ORPAS.

I just checked my email and I got an offer of admission from McGill! It was sent about an hour ago. So for anyone who hasn't heard yet, it seems like there is still hope. I was really not expecting it at this point, and also was not expecting an email haha, since so far other people have been getting called. Best of luck to everyone out there who is waiting! 

Last year they called over two days but there were tons more people posting in the forum that they were accepted. Hasn’t been many... either they called people who aren’t on here or they are not done yet

Prerequisites: 4.0
I also did a masters of arts in linguistics with a 4.0
Volunteer hours: 343 with children, 38 with adults with aphasia 
My letters of recommendation I imagine were very strong because they were written by the SLP that supervised me for 343 hours and my masters supervisor with whom I had taking 7 courses. 
Finally all the hard work has paid off ? best of luck to everyone with the acceptances to come

Does anyone have an estimate of how long it takes McGill to call everyone?

I messaged ORPAS and they said "This section is completely up to applicant discretion - please enter the information in the way that you feel best represents your experience. There is no wrong way as long as you are clear and consistent in your descriptions. The reason it is up to applicant discretion is because the schools would like to allow you the space to represent yourself and experience how you wish ".
Very confusing in my opinion!

Last year I didn't hear anything from UofT until I got my rejection, which they email you and send you a nice letter in the mail about it haha

Hi guys! Does anyone know the difference between duration and total hours when entering volunteer experiences in ORPAS? Like, would duration be "1 year" and hours "200"? Or am I misunderstanding?
