I do already have an MA, and where they asked I never opted into consideration for another MA...idk why else they’d be leaving people hanging! -

probably most annoyed with programs that’ve already sent acceptances, rejections and waitlist notifications but still have me in radio silence purgatory... -

JK—just got my rejection email. If anyone is worrying you won’t get in somewhere because a lower ranked program rejected you, DON’T. It’s fit and passion. Good luck everyone!! -

This is actually my own personal conspiracy theory about a ton of schools lol because I assume many of us sit in “idk” piles as acceptances, rejections and waitlist notifications go out. -

Yes! BUT—I’ve spoken to him over the years and it sounded like they are always around 300, and cohorts are large (usually high teens to 20) -

I went to Cornell undergrad, obviously an incredible English program but I’m happy to talk you down from this disappointment. Onto the next and fingers crossed! -

Just got into CUNY by email from a POI. I got my master’s there and it’s one of my top choices, I am really freaking out right now and in disbelief. This process messes with people so hard, I’ve never doubted myself more and I can’t stand that I’m a “just wait, it can happen to you!” person on the forum right now!!!!!! Fingers crossed for everyone, getting to the point of applying for a PhD means you deserve this feeling. -

I am sooo jealous that your season is over. Shut out or not, I’m waiting on 8/9 schools and have no patience. I’m tired and sick of the will they won’t they. Congrats!!!! -

Paying it forward...my advisor At CUNY is on sabbatical and wrote, re: my impatience/reading of a few acceptances, “I have no idea what's going on at the GC--but I don't think the fact that a couple of acceptances have gone out is meaningful. ” -

Ok I was MORTIFIED reading comments on these from years past. Honestly idk if I would’ve applied if I had known about it. I hope for their sake they stopped communicating in that way... -

Sooo much solidarity with you! I don’t think I would’ve applied to NYU re: mediocre fit if I weren’t from/trying to stay in New York, but it sucks not having an acceptance for peace of mind right now. -

Totally wrote that off as a rejection, which is fine because I want to stay in NY, but thank you!! Idk if I’ll ever be brave enough to start sending emails haha
