  1. Still waiting for Rutgers... Did anyone else get accepted/waitlisted?
  2. Same here, still no decision on portal nor email.
  3. Did you apply to other schools or just NW this cycle?
  4. From my observation, gradcafe is pretty much skewed towards US graduate programs. My guess is that not a lot of people know about UK schools save for big names like LSE and Oxbridge. I could be very, very wrong, though. Here in the US, I have heard of Warwick and Edinburgh. I'm not very farmiliar with the other schools on your list, unfortunately. Warwick is particularly strong in economics, but I'm not sure if there is any spillover effect from their econ department to their politics department in terms of methodology training. Edinburgh is very prestigious, so having a degree from there is generally a good thing. I'm not sure if you're getting an MSc, MRes, or MPhil (frankly I don't know too much about the differences between those degrees), but my take would be to go with the most prestigious school that you get in. So for now, Exeter seems to be the better choice. Regarding the PhD, it depends on what country you wanna get yours from. Is it the US or the UK? If it's the US, I would PERSONALLY say it doesn't really matter where you got your master's. People from no-name schools get into top US PhD programs all the time. For the UK, reputation plays a bigger role, though. For your career, the big name will give you an advantage (assuming all ese equal).
  5. Hey guys, So I'm just curious about what you guys think about FSU's poli sci department? I tried to look for information about the department on PSR, but that place is not, uh, very nice. So if you can let me know what are your thoughts about the program, that would be great!
  6. Just received the rejection from PSU via email. Not what I was hoping for but I expected that. Good luck on your part!
  7. No, I sent them an email asking about that but so far have heard nothing. I'm convinced that I'm rejected, but a part of me still hope that I'm waitlisted. PSU is my top choice this cycle, so I still kinda cling onto them. I just want them to reject me already so I can commit to other schools that accepted me.
  8. Does anyone know if Penn State also keeps applicants in waitlist limbo as well? I'm still waiting for them to give me a decision so I can end the misery.
  9. What are some programs outside the top 25 that have decent to good placements that you guys can think of?
  10. May I ask what school was it for the interview? Was it Penn State by any chance? I'm still waiting for a decision from them. Saw some PSU rejection posts on the result page today and it's making me anxious.
  11. For those who are still waiting for Pittsburgh, this is the message I just received: "Thank you for your application and your interest in the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Political Science. The committee has completed its review of applications and we regret to inform you that your name is not among those on the list of admitted or waitlisted applicants. We wish you success in your future academic and professional pursuits. To provide some context, we received 98 applications and expect to admit a cohort of 8 students for Fall 2020. Thank you again, and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns." Finally, some closure.
  12. Oh, I see. Thank you for letting me know. Hopefully I'll hear something from UCR by the end of this week.
  13. Anyone claiming the Syracuse acceptances? I found them to be a little weird, since they are both notified on 2/13. I assume they are not in the US then? Still no words from UC Riverside...
  14. Anyone still waiting to hear back from Penn State? All the acceptances so far seem to be international applicants with international degrees, but not international with American degree or Americans. Maybe there will be another wave of admittance?
  15. Claim the FSU acceptance. I never thought I would get accepted at a top 40 given my mediocre GPAs/GRE. Well, guess you never know if you don't try.
  16. Hey thanks for letting me know! Since you emailed them, I guess they haven't sent out decisions yet (did they say anything about that in your email?).
  17. Oh thank you for letting me know. Did they send you an email or was it a portal update. And what is your subfield?
  18. International applicant as well. I received an email asking for my official transcripts, and about an hour later got the email for invitation to their graduate recruitment weekend. So I guess them asking for your official transcripts is a good sign. Now, I'm not sure if an invitation means that I'm admitted or not (could someone educate me on that, please). I made an RSVP with them to visit but haven't heard back yet.
  19. Has anyone heard anything from UC Riverside? I saw a few posts popped up a couple of days ago and then nothing.
  20. Oh, I see. Thank you. It looks like PSU has started to look at CP applicants based on the post on the result page. I'll just assume for the worst and move on then.
  21. @ People who got accepted to Penn State: what are your subfield? I'm applying for CP and still haven't heard anything.
