  1. Updating... Schools Admitted To: American MPP ($$), UCSD MPP ($$$$), UCLA MPP ($$), USC MPP and MPA ($$$), Princeton ($$$$), GW (no funding info yet) Schools Waitlisted At: Berkeley MPP
  2. Is anyone considering the Sacramento MPA at USC Price? I like the idea of being in the state capital, but am not sure I want to have such a professionally oriented program when I could have a more traditional grad school experience (the Sacramento program only has classes on 1-2 weekends a month - I think not at all during the week - and is geared towards students who are working.) I am interested to hear what others think if you have any perspective to offer! Of course being able to work could be a benefit, but it sounds very different from how it’d be in LA or at another program. I’m also planning to go to the Sacramento admitted students webinar on the 30th so see you there if you are going!
  3. Hey all - just FYI, I just heard back with an acceptance for the MPP and a pretty generous scholarship, and since people started hearing back last week it suggests they’re not necessarily going in order of funding and/or going fast (as we knew...) - so don’t lose hope (it was all in the email and I applied a few weeks before the priority deadline fwiw!)
  4. I just got it too and am waitlisted. It says they anticipate being able to tell waitlisted folks whether they’re in or not on April 20 - not super excited to wait! I also assume there’s not much chance of getting funding once waitlisted so I’m considering removing myself from the list at some point. Any insight would be appreciated! Congrats to all who were accepted!
  5. This is the most relatable thing I’ve seen all day! The idea of not being able to make a decision - or at least have all the information - for another two weeks is very anxiety-provoking haha. I’m going to need to find some better distractions...
  6. I just heard via email about my funding offer. The information was all in a PDF attachment in the email, not on the portal! Good luck to others!
  7. Hi all! Has anyone heard from American about MPP funding? I know they said they might start sending notifications about merit aid at the end of February and I’m curious to know if they have started. Thanks!
  8. The MPA! I applied for both and have not heard back about the MPP.
  9. I think the cohorts are 70 students for the MPA - though I am not sure! Just wanted to note that in case anyone is interested! And of course that doesn’t mean it’s not supremely competitive haha
  10. Me too! No funding though! But still exciting
  11. Has anyone else heard from the Price MPP or MPA?
  12. Congratulations! Did you hear back on the portal or via email (or something else)? And, any word on funding?
  13. Thank you!! For anyone who was not able to attend, it sounds like merit aid notifications will be sent around “the end of next week/beginning of the following week” (which I think probably means March 11-16 roughly)!
  14. Has anyone heard about funding for UCSD’s MPP?
  15. Hi all! Super excited to have received an email letting me know I was accepted for the MPP today. I was given funding through a TA position, nonresident tuition, and nominated for a fellowship through the Luskin Center for Innovation. I hope this info is helpful - I figured I’d better stop lurking and chime in good luck everyone! (FWIW my stats are in the 2021 Results thread in case anyone wants them )
  16. Another longtime lurker - now that it’s March I thought I would try to participate more Program Applied To (MPA, MPP, IR, etc.): MPP/MPA Schools Applied To: UCLA MPP, UCSD MPP, UCB MPP, USC MPP and MPA, Princeton MPA, American MPP, GWU MPP Schools Admitted To: American MPP (no funding info yet), UCSD MPP (no funding info yet), UCLA MPP (35% $ through TA position) Schools Rejected From: Still Waiting: UCB MPP, USC MPP and MPA, Princeton MPA, GWU MPP Undergraduate Institution: Private US university Undergraduate GPA: 3.86 Undergraduate Major: Chemical Engineering GRE Quantitative/Verbal/AW Scores: 168/168/5.5 Years Out of Undergrad (if applicable): 4 Years of Work Experience: 3.5 Describe Relevant Work Experience: Local government community affairs internship, ~2.5 yrs in think tank communications Strength of SOP (be honest, describe the process, etc): I thought pretty good - talking about desire to work in climate adaptation policy, tied in with experience as CA native with wildfires Strength of LOR's (be honest, describe the process, etc): Supervisors from current job and past internship, professor from college who I TAed for - I read the first two and they were strong
  17. Hello all! I hope everyone has had a good application season for those who applied this year. I'll be applying for MPP programs this fall (to enroll in 2021). I'm mostly planning to apply to California programs (pretty much all of them - all the UCs plus USC and a few others). I studied Chemical Engineering, so I have a rigorous quantitative background, but I haven't taken any economics (other than a non-AP high school class). Is it worth the tuition to take an online microeconomics class before applying? It's one of the only things I've noticed is listed as a prereq, but most schools don't actually say it's *required* for admission. In case it's at all relevant (probably it isn't) I do have some familiarity with Econ through work experience, as I work with lots of economists. I also have a high quant GRE score. I'm very grateful in advance for any thoughts you all have! Thanks!
