  1. Still haven’t heard anything from the program I interviewed with over a month ago. Sent an email over a week ago and they didn’t respond. I also haven’t heard anything from the program I accepted an offer from. I sent an email saying that I would be accepting the offer 2 (or maybe it was 3?) weeks ago and filled out the acceptance form in the application portal. Is it normal to not hear anything for a while after you accept?
  2. It’s been nearly a month since one of my interviews and I still haven’t heard anything. During the interview they said we’d probably hear back within a week and I know at least one person got an acceptance within that time frame. I emailed someone from the program over the weekend and they haven’t responded yet. At this point it doesn’t matter that much because I’ve already accepted another offer, but it still irritates me that they haven’t bothered to let me know if I got in or not.
  3. Congratulations! When did you hear back from Illinois state? I interviewed for their Ed.S program and they said they’d get back to us by the end of last week, but I still haven’t heard anything.
  4. Has anyone heard back from Illinois State?
  5. Congratulations on the acceptance! I am in a similar situation. If my mom had it her way, I would never move out. After getting rejected from all the schools I applied to last year, I was over the moon when I got my first acceptance. I worked so hard for this, so it was very disheartening when I told my mom and instead of congratulating me, she started asking me about schools that are closer to home. Anytime I bring up an interview or talk about a school, all she has to say is "where is that one?", "how far?", "what about *insert closer school*". It's like she can't even be happy for my accomplishments. I think I've gotten her to a point where she kind of understands that I have to take into consideration factors besides location, but in her mind, the closer school will always be better and she's not going to be happy with anything else. Just remember that you have to do what is best for you and your future, not what is best for your mom. However, I know that is easier said than done. Best of luck to you!
  6. What program is it for? I also have an interview with GVSU for their school psychology program. I have not interviewed with them before, so I'm not sure what to expect from this school specifically, but I did have an interview with another school last week and it had a similar structure. Based on previous interviews that I've had, as well as what I've seen online, I would recommend having answers prepared for questions like "what are your strengths/weaknesses?", "why *insert field of study*?" "why this program/school?", "where do you see yourself in x years?", "what are your hobbies/how do you spend your free time?", I would also expect a diversity related question. Those are just generic questions, but I would also expect some that are related to your specific field of study. For example, I am going into school psychology and at my interview last week I was asked to talk about my experiences working with children. Have questions prepared for them. I can guarantee they will end the interview with "do you have any questions for me/us?" and it's not a good look to say no. The itinerary they send me shows that there will be a student panel Q & A, so have questions prepared for current students. I know the virtual interviews may seem weird and intimidating because it's not something we are used to, but don't stress out too much about the format. Test out your interview space beforehand to make sure the lighting is ok and the background is presentable. Have water nearby for the parts where you will be talking a lot. I always get thirsty when I'm nervous and am talking a lot, so this is a must for me.
  7. Yeah, I received an email from them about the extended deadline and took advantage of it. I applied there as a backup and because I wanted to explore the option of moving to a warmer climate (midwest winters suck), but I’ll likely be declining if they offer me an interview. Hope you get good news from them soon!
  8. Still nothing from Winthrop. Someone on the subreddit said they got 20 or so more applications than usual, so it may take a little longer to sort through them.
  9. I heard from them this morning. The email said I was recommended for admission and invited to a virtual visitation day on the 22nd. It’s been so long since the deadline that I was assuming the worst, so this was a pleasant surprise!
  10. I got invited to Illinois State University's Ed.S interview on Feb. 19th. Looks like interviews are gonna be an all day affair, so I'm a little nervous about that. Anyone else get an invitation?
  11. I’m getting a little worried because two of the schools I applied to have not received my GRE scores yet and the deadline just passed (Jan. 1). I put in the order for the scores to be sent about 2 weeks ago. How long does it normally take for schools to receive the scores? Should I be worried about this?
  12. I've been needing to start working on my applications, but every time I think about it, I get stressed out. I applied last year, so I have some materials to work from. My problem right now is my statement of purpose. The one I wrote last year is decent, but there is a lot of room for improvement. I always find it difficult to write about myself, so I think that's my main issue. A few of the schools I'm applying to also require a writing sample and I have no idea what to submit for that. I'll be glad when this whole process is over.
  13. Hello everyone! I'm slowly beginning to work on my applications and they're already stressing me out. These are the schools I'm planning to apply to (all EdS): Michigan State University Grand Valley State University Ball State University Indiana State University Easter Illinois University Illinois State University Western Carolina University Francis Marion University Winthrop University
  14. I'm apply to GVSU and Wayne State. Haven't heard anything from GVSU yet, but Wayne State invited me for an interview next month. Obviously I'm very excited about the interview, but I'm also a bit confused. My application for Wayne State is half finished and right now they only have my transcripts, GRE, and letters of recommendation, but they still called to set up an interview. Is this something that happens often? The application deadline isn't for another two weeks.
