  1. I was told to look into longwood and utah state university at least for speech classes! I'm in a similar boat and ended up submitting my application to longwood and am waiting to hear back so I can hopefully register. I'm a little stressed about courses filling up since it's a little last minute but that is my current plan, backup is taking them through my program but for more money if I am really in a pinch
  2. Just wanted to update for anyone else curious as I heard back from Columbia: they said that most scholarships are already sent out, but that they are finalizing offers through early April so more will be sent out before then. This was info from a TC person, didn't seem necessarily program-specific but just FYI!
  3. Thank you both!! I was unclear if there was a difference between the financial aid package and other scholarships so this is helpful. This is what I was confused about as well so hopefully we will get a solid answer eventually
  4. thank you!! I got my financial aid info but they made it sound like scholarships were separate. I've been assuming that no news means no scholarships but just was curious if they were waiting to send them out (since a package of like $50k/yr in loans doesn't make me feel amazing!). That is really helpful re: the scholarship. I want to apply bilingually, but am also worried about getting stuck in a school placement that I hate for 4 years, if I even was to get it. I'll probably end up choosing a cheaper school in the end but want to explore all options before I decide
  5. Hi everyone! I heard back from Columbia a couple weeks ago and also received my financial aid package, but have not gotten a clear answer on scholarships. Have these already been sent out or is Columbia still working on this? I am sure all the things going on here with COVID-19 are delaying decisions a bit, especially since Columbia has been closed for a while (and is on spring break this week anyway). Does anyone have more info than I do about this? Also, does anyone know how competitive the NYC DOE scholarship is? This would make a huge difference in my decision re: funding, but I have no concept of how many people even get the scholarship or if it's worth attempting. Thank you!
  6. I spoke on the phone with someone for the program yesterday and was super disappointed to hear this. She said I could still visit but I feel nervous to even make plans since I'm in NYC and I think it's about to get bad here (and in Boston too)
  7. yeah this is driving me crazy and makes it really hard to decide because it seems like cost varies a lot! I estimated MGH at $18300-$21650 per semester for tuition and fees (depending on credits plus higher fees for fall) based on their calculator but honestly not sure.
  8. Hi! Does anyone have advice for figuring out total program costs? I'm having a really hard time from program websites figuring out what it will actually cost to attend school there - obviously tuition increases can't be fully predicted for the second year but I am just wondering how others are making estimates. Is this an appropriate question to email schools financial aid departments? Do I just need to wait for them to send out more financial info? This is going to be probably my most heavily weighted factor in deciding but I don't know how to get an accurate estimate edit: specifically I am looking at BU and MGH right now if people have more specific info for those programs
  9. I did! Heard back last night. It seems like they're slowly sending stuff out a little bit at a time. Going into this, TC was my definite top choice but now I think I'm mostly leaning towards MGH and BU anyway
  10. Hi!! I'm in a similar boat and very unsure. I'm deciding between BU vs MGH right now, but maybe consider northwestern, northeastern, or other programs once I hear back about costs. Feeling lucky to have such a difficult decision but it's really hard to know!! I haven't visited MGH yet but am planning on attending their open house. I loved BU when I visited too but it's hard to compare without visiting MGH yet
  11. Got the info today! I am planning on coming up assuming my work schedule allows, this is definitely one of my top programs
  12. I applied as an out of field applicant without leveling courses completed so really didn't know what would happen. I was super nervous about how things would turn out but just got into my top choice program (& several others) and am so so so over the moon. Still waiting on financial details and a couple other schools but am really honored to even have a difficult decision to make - congrats to everyone else as well!!
  13. In my acceptance email, it said I received a scholarship but to expect an email from financial aid with details in the next couple of business days. I'd assume they'll send everyone's financial info out separately regardless?
  14. Me too!!!! I'm so thrilled! Do you know if they usually have an open house? I've never even visited the school but I am likely going to attend depending on how scholarships/financial info shakes out
  15. Okay glad to hear it isn't just me!! I'm hoping we hear back this week, I see you're also waiting on northeastern and TC so fingers crossed stuff keeps getting released soon.
