I got a 15k fellowship when I was first admitted and then got another 15k on April 7 after emailing my advisor and asking if there was any room for negotiation! I'm super pleased with how generous SEAS has been. I was wondering the same thing about why they suddenly had extra funds

I attended an online chat for prospective SEAS international students and the admissions assistant said they are now extending the deadline and will not revoke anyone’s offer.

Woo in at Yale (MEM), 4 for 5! Still haven't heard from Bren yet. Can't wait for funding to be announced so I can really start comparing options. I really hope Yale and Duke don't cancel their admitted students weekends. I'm banking on using those to help me pick between programs ?

I hear that most classes for MES at UPenn are in the evening, so it would be ideal for part-time students. But for full-time students I can’t say.

Can’t believe that my grad school application season just ended like that. Still waiting on another Canadian school but I don’t really wanna go there, so...
What I’ve been thinking this past few days is that the end of my application cycle is not an end, but actually a start. Of course I’m very excited to get into my dream school, but the responsibility to perform well in this program hit me hard. It’s amazing when a dream remains a dream, but when it turns into reality, you have this sudden responsibility to live up to your expectations and not disappoint.
As I said, this is just the beginning. I hope we never forget our enthusiasm and make ourselves proud!!

    Finally IN at U-M SEAS.
    With 15k fellowship.
Still can’t believe they kept me waiting for so long that I almost lost faith. But the outcome’s worth it.
Was not invited to Admitted Students Day tho. Due to Coronavirus outbreak.
You guys have fun and please update on your experience!!
Also if you have a group chat for SEAS admits please let me in! Thanks!!

Hey everyone! @alaqua had the idea of starting a group chat for SEAS. I know there's an admitted students Facebook group, but maybe we could use a group chat to discuss the program, get to know each other, etc. Anyone else interested?

Yeah, it seems odd that they're taking so long with sending out decisions. It makes me think that the delay is just a higher volume in applicants this year for some reason.
And agreed with the tuition! I really can't afford to go to Michigan if I don't get any financial support. I chatted with an admissions coach on the phone and she told me that in addition to being considered for scholarships, you can apply to be a graduate student assistant (GSA) where they waive your tuition, give you a stipend, and give you health insurance for that semester only. She said that getting those are a bit more competitive (only about ~50% of applicants get it) and students usually apply after their first semester after gaining experience. So if you're lucky enough to land a GSA position AND get some sort of scholarship, it's definitely it worth to go!
But until then, I guess all we can do is wait for these darn decisions to be sent out....

Interesting - maybe they had a larger number of applicants this year... Hopefully results will come before the end of February, but I guess we'll have to wait and see!

I was expecting to hear back from SEAS this week, too. But when I wrote an email to ask about it, the admission staff replied “you will receive an email before March”. I was shocked. Didn’t expect them to set such a late(?) deadline for admission decisions.
However, I strong believe that we will receive the decision soon. Hope we can all get in!!

@alaqua Ah, I'm not applying to SEAS this cycle (I definitely considered it!) but I would've gone for Environmental Policy and Planning, although Conservation Ecology would've been a close second.
In that same vein, I'm applying for the Environmental Economics and Policy concentration at NSOE but hoping to take many electives in Ecosystem Science and Conservation.
Another day closer to hearing back!
