How are all my waitlisters doing out there? I still keep checking my email every five minutes, even after business hours, like it's realistic I'm going to get an email at 9PM.

Spoke to a director today who said admitted students have been really slow to respond for some reason this year— so don’t give up hope!

@ilifi Nevermind, just saw that it went to my junk folder. Accepted!

I think it’s appropriate to reach out to them at let them know that you’re very interested but still waiting for decisions from couple of schools and gently ask for them to follow the April 15th deadline. If they don’t acquiesce I also think it’s appropriate to wait until the last possible minute of their given deadline to reply and if you still haven’t heard from the other schools, if you truly think you’ll attend Colorado if funding ect doesn’t come through from your other options, I think it’s fine to accept while you wait. I know that’s not the best option, but you’ll have done the best you can with the situation in good faith. I think it could only hurt you if you accept then decline and think you might apply to Colorado again in the future. ??♀️ I don’t know, we do the best we can with the information we have at the time. good luck and congrats on your acceptances!

Did temple already release decisions, or was that for a different year? sorry, I guess that was more of a question for @ilifi

waitlisted at NC State which honestly feels like a victory at this point ?

Anyone have thoughts about when UVA might release decisions?

Thanks for asking and looking out for us! Congrats on your acceptance!

I feel that about the recommenders. I just want to be able to tell them I got into one school at least. People who have applied more than one year: have you used the same recommenders? It hurts me to think of asking them all over again
-
First rejection: Vanderbilt. That’s not promising. They were my first choice, I wrote my SOP with Vandy in mind and then adapted it for the other schools. Which is just to say that it was probably my strongest application, so not hopeful for the other schools.

If anyone that got into schools (esp. Iowa) is feeling generous and wants to share their SOP and/or writing sample I'd be appreciative (I imagine other aspiring MFAers would as well). I looked to see if I could find any online as I was applying to get a feel for the quality and tone of the writing but couldn't find anything. I totally understand if you don't want to share; I'd be horrified to share my SOP. I'm just interested to see just how close or far from the mark I am. I also know that the admission process is subjective and what works at one time won't work at another, but I imagine the quality of the writing admitted remains fairly consistent across the board. Also, unrelated--I worked as a travel nurse for a hot minute and recruits from all over the country still call me at least once a day and it's making this waiting for a phone call experience all the more fraught. I got a call from NC this morning and thought it was NC state even though they have a later application due date and I probably won't hear for at lease a month or so.

Yeah, University of New Orleans! I don't necessarily want to do an online program, but thought I might want the option.

Hi! New on the forum. Applied to almost entirely reach schools: Iowa, Michigan, UVA, Vanderbilt, NC State, Temple, UNO online (just for option), and University of Cincinnati (although it's an an MA not MFA). Just wishing everyone luck and saying 'hi,' instead of just anonymously trolling the message board.
