  1. Hello, Would anyone with experience in the Law field help me with something, My cousin has a bachelor in Law (2006, accepted GPA), she wants to do masters in International law or Data privacy law, in the US, Canada or Europe. What are her chances? Knowing that she has a really great experience; since 2016 till present, she has been the Legal & Compliance Manager for FERRING PHARMACEUTICALS SA in the Middle – East, Turkey & Africa region. And before that, she was the Legal Counsel & Compliance Manager for LG Electronics in the Levant area. So, does she have a chance in getting a scholarship to do masters, or half funded one? Also, she wants an option to do it off-campus. Thank you!
  2. Hello, I have tried applying to Canadian PhD positions in Genetics/Molecular Biology last year, and many professors replied that they either don't have fund, or that they already took new students. So, I want to re-try this year. I was wondering how would you advise me to start my email, should I remind them that I have contacted them last year? What do you think is the best way to say. PS: I an an international student. I think my application was good enough las year, but has definitely improved this year as number of accepted articles increased (few are also under review). My GPA is excellent, and my TOEFL score is also very good.
  3. I haven't been in contact with anyone, I do have the emails of the professors who interviewed me, though. But, it feels difficult to email them, think I shouldn't do it. The application's material is all great and fine. I only worried I might be black listed for asking them why, thought they might feel I'm doubting them or sth. Yeah, you're right, I did think of emailing those who interviewed me but it seems unprofessional. No, all my references sent their LOR, and they were amazing, I am not worried about that, but they did ask me to give additional reference contact (two in specific of which one was in charge of an internship) and I did, those two are more than happy to help me in my application, as they have previously told me, it is just that I thought maybe they could not get in touch with them and it affected my acceptance, but after thinking about it it seems very unlikely. Yeah, I'll see how I will do it (or if I will email any in the first place ?) But thanks a lot!
  4. 43C$ is enough to live in Toronto as far as I know. The rank of the two universities is high, FSU ranks higher but you should consider the department you're going to and the professors's work. So, ranking wise I don't think it might matter much, I think it all comes down to the program and cost. I don't think anything about math/stat or biostatistics, so consider what you like more and also consider the financing. Being a PhD students doesn't allow you to work on the side, you want to be comfortable so 43$ a year seems pretty great to me. Just make sure they will keep finding you till the end of your studies, because PhD in Canada can take on average 5-6 years ( I'm talking about my major "molecular genetics", I don't know about Math" Wish you all the best.
  5. I heard it is very easy to apply to scholarships and awards in Canada, keep that in mind. If you can handle the debt, I highly encourage you to go there. Plus, you should know that you can work anywhere you like in Canad ( In case you're international), so if you can handle masters and work, I encourage you to work and study in Canada, then you wouldn't worry about the debt.
  6. Yeah, publications would extremely help. Try to work as a research assistant and put in as work experience on your CV. If you can secure two papers or three it would be great, even if you at least publish one and get another one in the process of submission, then you can include it on your CV and put at the end "To be submitted"
  7. Isn't Uni of Alberta's rank way higher than Wayne state uni? I think you should consider that, not sure. But on the other hand, the weather in Detroit is probably better than Canada's. I think you should mostly consider the faculty and the research output.
  8. Hi,I know it is very unlikely anyone would reply to a rejection ( I have had like two rejections and I was Okay with it) but, I interviewed with Utah uni for PhD like 12 days ago, the interview went extremely well, like I cannot emphasize on how great it went, some laughs and lots of compliments on my projects, skills and English skills. I really thought I was going to get it but I got a rejection. At the end of the interview a professor asked if they can contact the professor whom I have had been awarded with an internship to work for in Germany, I told him ofc he can and that she agreed before to be added as a reference contact. I don't know why I got worried that maybe she didn't reply to them? I started thinking that maybe other professors like my supervisor did not reply maybe ( there is like really slim chance anyone would say anything bad about me). So, as you can see, I am really dying to know why I got rejected. More importantly, I feel like I want to know to improve my application for next year, this is what really concern me now, specially because I feel I would want to reapply to this uni again, but at the same time I am worried that by asking them why they rejected me I might be black listed forever ( hope you understand what I mean). So, what do you think I should do?PS: I don't want them to revoke the response and accept me, I know that is impossible but I am asking if I can ask them why so I can improve myself.
