  1. Well we can't get denied if we never get the results ...
  2. Spoke to the administrator about financial aid today. She said there’s a financial aid reconsideration request form that will be released soon. She also commended me for asking and said that many people don’t take the time to do so. Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but it seems they will try to match my other offer if I fill out the request and funding allows.
  3. That is a good data point to know. All the other schools that use the same application system (Yale, Johns Hopkins SAIS, etc.) that I've encountered tend to hide the checklist before releasing. I guess hiding the checklist is not a requirement.
  4. Yes, absolutely. The sign that decisions are about to be released is usually when the checklist disappears. In my experience with other schools, the email gets sent within a couple hours after the portal is updated. The fastest way to know is to check the portal (or here because people will definitely say something).
  5. I imagine all the SIPA decisions will be released at the same time. The thread for Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) has data that shows SIPA usually releases before Princeton WWS and HKS, which would mean today or tomorrow. Columbia is preparing to begin online classes though, so it's difficult to know if admissions decisions will be affected.
  6. 7:00 pm EDT has come and gone. Let’s hope for tomorrow!
  7. At this point, I imagine it will probably be later this week.
  8. Hopefully we'll get the answers we've all been waiting for tomorrow or Tuesday!
  9. Yeah, I'd be happy to. I'm going in not expecting anything, but this administrator and I have been in contact via email for over a month and she knows how passionate I am about the SAIS-Tsinghua program. Maybe she can pull some strings.
  10. I’m not sure. I have a previously scheduled call with an administrator next week. I’ll just bring it up. All else equal, SAIS is my top choice. Really don’t want to have to decline because of funding.
  11. Well American SIS just offered me double what SAIS did. Time to try and negotiate more funding.
  12. You should contact them immediately. Did you enter the correct school code in the FAFSA? I had the maximum loan amount available, which is $20500 per year.
  13. No, I was waitlisted for MSFS though.
  14. @Graccce6688, agreed. It doesn't hurt to ask. Honestly, it may make you seem more impressive that you are being proactive about it.
  15. Very impressive. You more than deserve that funding!
  16. Yes, I am able to get in. Took about an hour to work.
  17. What were both of your stats?
  18. That's why I went for the Tsinghua program instead. I love the HNC, but my Mandarin definitely isn't good enough to take technical classes not taught in English. If you feel confident in your ability, don't let that that condition stop you!
  19. I'm still waiting to hear back from Columbia SIPA about admission/aid and American SIS about aid. Once I have everything, I can do a cost-benefit analysis. Accepting the SAIS-Tsinghua program is what I want to do, but if Columbia or American is significantly cheaper, I may need to go that route. I really don't want to take out a PLUS loan, and although the $10500 per year scholarship SAIS awarded me last December is generous, it is a drop in the bucket for the total program cost. We'll see what happens, I suppose.
  20. I had a conditional offer in December because SAIS said I hadn't completed the economics prerequisite. I called and asked them to take a closer look at my transcript, and they quickly removed the conditions. If you think the conditions are wrong, you should reach out.
  21. The federal code for SAIS is 474. Good luck filling out the FAFSA.
  22. The aid letter is a different letter. It will come from saisfinaidinfo@jhu.edu and does not appear in the portal.
  23. They should be able to consider you for merit-based aid based on the other parts of your application. I had not submitted my FAFSA in December and received a Dean's Scholarship in an award letter on December 20 when early students were admitted.
  24. If you want federal aid, you need to fill out a FAFSA. Most schools use that information to determine need-based aid as well. Fill it out now and send SAIS an email that you did it.
  25. These have actually been around since December when the early action applicants were admitted, but good find without having the direct link.
