Got an interview for Yale ESI Prep!

Hey guys! 
Made an account to tell you guys that I received an interview invite from Virginia Tech (VT-PREP) yesterday!

I just finished speaking with Dr. Streete, and he said he actually finished reading every application today. The top 20 students application will be sent to the professors of interest sometimes this weekend, and final decisions will be sent next week. I do not know how many students will be given an interview invitation, but this is what he told me. So, to those who applied to Yale-Prep, good luck and don't think there is something inherently wrong with your application, or that it wasn't looked at because it was. We just accept what is and what isn't. Once again, good luck. 

I got an interview for STAR-prep at university of maryland

Same here! I already committed to University of Washington, but Harvard was one of my top choices (above UW), I do not know what to do. 

Just got an interview request from Harvard RSI!

Any updates from Yale?

I ended up committing to University of Washington. Anyone else heard from or is going there?

Also, The UChicago program is extending their deadline to April 15th to accommodate for the COVID-19 crisis. So if you had your program cancelled, you might as well give it a try!

Dear all. Thanks for your continued support! I received and e-mail from MIT saying I was selected for their interview stage, but they could not conduct them due to MIT's campus closure. They will be cancelling MIT BCS postbac because their start date was June 1st, and they cannot accommodate a later start date. If you were hopeful, like me, to hear from them, it sounds like they will not be having postbac or summer program this year due to COVID-19. Best of luck to you all! I have committed to UChicago, and will keep you updated if I hear back from anybody else in my list ?

Hi All.
I have accepted a position at the NIAID at NIH and I will be doing my post-baccalaureate research position at the Vaccine Research Center. I wish you all the best during this process and I hope you all stay safe during this times. 
As for Hopkins I actually called the director of Hopkins PREP directly because I was running out of time before my offer from NIH expires. I was advised directly from the director to accept the offer from NIH and told me that I was not on the list of applicants being considered for their PREP and states that this is partly due to me wanting to do MD/PhD and since PREP is focus on PhD I was not able to make it to the list. I trust the director so much and so I decided to accept the NIH offer. To give you an insight as well, they received about 200 applicants and they are only accepting 6-7 PREP. Anyways if you have any questions please let me know. PM me anytime.

I agree with the response above! I recently spoke to a professor who is on the graduate acceptance committee at UCSD about what PhD programs look for. Relevant research experience is always the first thing. She said it's not so much about how prestigious the university is you got that research experience but rather who you worked with. So if you work under a great scientist who knows how to best mentor/equip you for your own project, you'll produce novel, meaningful research and any university is going to weigh your application heavier. So I definitely would base it mostly on who you will be working under. I've even been advised to message some of the graduate students who work in that lab and ask about their experiences there.

I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything from any of those schools and whether admissions are being delayed due to the coronavirus!? I'm constantly refreshing my emails for some information ?
