I asked our department if they have any updates on the SSHRC results and they said not yet.

You sound like an economist:D "These are the rules of the game we learnt so far, therefore, we are going to play rationally given the rules we deduced (or induced). Why? because thats what a rational agent would do" I still check my email every hour or so hahaha

Start with a polite "harassing" email. Let them know that you know that they are going to know before you know the results, but politely. In a subtle way say this waiting is killing me and stuff. Then every five days make the "harassing" email more direct till they give up and get tired of your emails and tell you "OK we will let you know as soon as we find out". This strategy usually works

My understanding is that SSHRC announce the results (win or not win) to your institution (for example McGill), your institution passes that information to your department.

I dont think so (but not very sure), because you directly applied to SSHRC, right? It wasnt through an institution with quota, right?

Last year was very funny, which I think this year it should be fixed: (1) People received the extranet email notifications on different days (2) I was one of the last ones who received that email (3) But i tried to log in before receiving and worked for a day, but there was no result in there (4) Then they started uploading the results on the extranet batches by batches (5) Again I was one of the last ones, so I lost my patience and contacted the graduate office of awards and stuff (6) Conclusion, we dont know what is going to happen. One thing is for certain your office of awards thing at your institution knows the results before you get them. Also, in many cases your department (e.g department of psych of econ or whatever) knows the result before you do.

My brain is playing tricks on me:D My brain is telling me that there is a uniform distribution of getting the news from today to the end of April. So I refresh my email every hour. But, the reality is they are going to send us the results on April 30th,11:59. Or send us an email on April 30, 11:59 with: "sorry, Covid happened as you know, how about early May?"

Hey UBC people: I emailed someone from Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and asked about whether they have the results: "Our unit just got word of the SSHRC Doctoral results and posted the results to departments about an hour ago. Departments were asked to inform all of their applicants of the results, but your department likely hasn’t had time yet to do that." Just email your department, they should know by now. I didnt receive any email for setting up that extranet thing.
