  1. It takes a special kind of crappy person to troll GRAD SCHOOL websites. Like, why get people’s hopes up and mess with emotions? This is such a stressful process already. I’ve just been really taking everything people say on the internet with a grain of salt these days.
  2. Trolls. It happens every year. They’re the worst ??‍♀️
  3. It’s quite literally the most competitive graduate program to get into. Full stop. Even more than medical school, unfortunately I wish there were more accredited programs to keep up with the demand.
  4. That was a sweet email, at least! I’m sorry you didn’t get an interview
  5. This. Some of the responses are ridiculously immature. Calling someone an “angry yeti” because you disagree with them? Not the best look for someone trying to be a psychologist. It’s so vindictive.
  6. Check the results page! Someone posted about St. John's this morning. I don't think official interview invites have been sent out yet.
  7. Definitely a slippery slope. Maybe email the admissions coordinator instead? I think people are emailing PI's if they had a prelim and haven't heard anything back. Otherwise.... it might come off a tiny bit pushy. I heard that some programs just started reviewing apps. Maybe give it a few more weeks before you reach out.
  8. So am I! So far, I know that UF & Stony Brook are not requiring it for applications due December 2021. I’m hoping this cycle gave programs the push they needed to get rid of it completely. I know they can find qualified students without using the GRE. (Prayers for me because I scored horribly on it and it would definitely be a negative on my otherwise relatively strong application. But then again... admissions is a gamble!).
  9. I don’t think it will hurt you at all! It’ll show the PI that you’re interested still and they might recognize the name I say go for it!
  10. I was soooo happy that they waived the GRE, then life happened and I decided to take another year off and wait to apply. Now I’m scared! Also that last part is definitely true.... UNC had 980 applications for less than 9 spots! I think I’m a pretty competitive applicant and I have days of thinking “oh I’ll definitely get in somewhere, no question” but then other days of “why should I even bother trying, I don’t stand a chance”. It’s messing with me, lol
  11. The recent UT Southwestern poster’s (on the results page) rejection was almost certainly due to not submitting GRE scores, and one of the posters on the results page was fake (the one who was posting about ridiculous stats.. then they said they got rejected from MIT, lol) I think this year is especially competitive, but please believe in yourself!!! You will get accepted!!!
  12. Either it was a mistake, or people are trolling. There’s been a lot of that on the results page
  13. This, this, and all of this. So sorry to hear about your experience. I agree, it’s so frustrating to see faculty boast about taking diversity seriously when they have a direct barrier that disadvantages BIPOC & disabled students. Like, if you want diversity, maybe eliminate the strongest barrier first? It’s beyond frustrating. While I’m glad that programs are starting to do away with it, some haven’t... even in this pandemic (Looking at you, UConn). It’s ridiculous.
  14. Yes, I am terrified. I took the GRE in the height of the pandemic and scored terribly and don’t have the resources to take it again. I’m REALLY hoping the programs continue the trend of eliminating it from their requirements. What other programs have eliminated it? All I know of so far is Stony Brook and UF.
  15. I don't think they have to fight...from my understanding, and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the department lays out how many students they can take that year depending on funding. But I think it's really all dependent on funding.
  16. Same... I'm regretting not taking fundamental pre-req classes... I think I'd have a wider range of options (genetic counseling, OT, PT, etc) even though clinical psych is absolutely where my heart's at.
  17. Yeah, I worry about that too. As for other fields, I'm sure they've seen an increase, but I can almost guarantee that it's nothing like the numbers we're seeing for clinical psych. 980 applications....for 9 spots? It's harder to get into than med school.
  18. I don't think fall '21 will be as crazy as fall '20 regarding application numbers, but I'm worried about PI funding and PI's not willing to take students.
  19. Some people don't get in until their 2nd or 3rd time applying. I'm literally terrified to apply in the fall because of all the craziness I'm hearing. I wish there were more schools that had clinical PhD programs - even though I know there's a ton already, it doesn't meet up with the demand from applicants.
  20. Yup, absolutely. It's so out of our control when our desired PI has multiple applicants with the same exact stats.
  21. Yup, same. Very lucky to have the CRC job, but man, I make less than that... ? ahh
  22. Masters Programs or full time RA/CRC/Project manager positions in labs... but even those are really hard to come by
  23. Wondering the same thing with that Georgia State post I just saw ?
  24. Also, for anyone wondering about UCLA - I saw it mentioned on reddit that they’re extending interview invites next week. Take it with a grain of salt, but the poster said that they asked a grad student at UCLA.
