  1. Yup, I totally agree with this too. I think anyone who's super prepared and has a good fit stands a good chance of being admitted. I just think it's interesting to see the increase in numbers!
  2. Totally agree. Also, a lot of people are applying because if the reduced fees as well... and virtual interviews mean no traveling, so no spending $$ on traveling. I doubt that all 700-800 applicants will be super competitive.
  3. Reddit; someone's research professor from Penn State informed them. Said around 700 and are expecting 800 by tomorrow for their clinical program.
  4. Someone said that Penn State has had a 50-100% increase of applications this year. I'm very curious to hear about other programs numbers as well. I think some individuals are panic-applying to schools for possible financial security, and may not necessarily be the most competitive. What are everyone's thoughts?
  5. This professor from the University of Florida (deadline 11/15) said they’ve had 2x their normal amount.
  6. Hey y'all, good luck! Rooting for everyone. I'm applying next cycle and it's so awesome too see everyone excited about submitting their applications... ahh! Good luck!!
  7. Not applying this cycle, but I am going to submit a 15 page research paper that I did for a psych class!
  8. A few schools off the top of my head that are waiving it for next year are UF & Stony Brook. Not sure about others. Personally, I think they should be waived next year too... and every year after that.
  9. UVA’s Clinical Program has officially decided not to take a cohort.
  10. No... your scores are fine... unless you completely bomb the AWA, I wouldn’t retake it.
  11. Sigh... I have decided to wait another year to apply so I can get more research experience (just got a research coordinator job) and because I'm in progress to publish a paper within the next year. I feel like it'll make me more competitive than if I was to apply this cycle. Good luck everyone!!!! I am rooting for you all!! ❤️
  12. All of the advice I have been given about applying to Clinical PhD's was to never geographically restrict yourself. I think you have a good chance with your GPA and research experience, but you need to find a mentor that is a really good fit with your research interests. Plus, admissions is a crapshoot anyways. But if you can, try to apply to schools all over the country... geographically restricting yourself to one area isn't a good idea.
  13. Geez, you’re right, I just saw their website. Another one bites the dust. This is awful
  14. Woah, that’s wild, considering they didn’t take a clinical cohort last year either.
  15. Yeah, I don't think that would be wise. If schools say that they're GRE-blind, they don't want your scores to influence their decision at all. However, most schools who are waiving them are giving students the option to send them or not - check the program websites to see if they are GRE-blind, or GRE optional.
  16. I’ve personally seen a lot of PI’s say on twitter that they’re taking students this cycle, so I think you’re fine to apply!! Keep checking the program websites for updates.
  17. UPenn’s entire school for arts and sciences just announced that they are not taking any school-funded PhD students for the 2021-2022 academic year. Does anyone know if this includes their clinical program?
  18. If none of the faculty that you want to work with are recruiting, try finding a research assistant/coordinator position to get more experience if you can! It helps to make you more competitive. I recently made the decision to take two gap years instead of one.
  19. Over 100 PhD and PsyD programs have waived the GRE for this application cycle. (America)
  20. It’s risky. However, UC Irvine is a well respected school and I have no doubt that they’ll achieve APA accreditation. But there’s always that risk being the first cohort in a brand new program. Ultimately it’s up to you, but I personally don’t think you’ll have to worry about them not achieving accreditation.
  21. I believe it is true someone commented on the GRE waived document that they emailed them and they’re not taking students this cycle. But there’s no notice on their website yet so hopefully that’ll change.
