  1. Hi all, This may be a weird question, but I'm currently filling in all of my personal information on various applications just to have them open and ready to submit once I'm happy with my supplementary materials. Has anyone had a look at the UWindsor application? It asks you to select your program of study that you are applying to and the only available clinical options are PhD programs. I'm wondering if I'm missing something ?. Thanks in advance!
  2. I actually also have a question pertaining to this: If there is only one (or at most, 2) supervisors I want to work with at a given school, am I meant to add another name I really have no interest in working with? In other words-- when they say "list up to 2" or "list up to 3" do they really mean, "we want to see 2-3 names here"? Is it a bad call to be truthful and only put the one PI? Would love people's thoughts on this as well.
  3. I’m a student representative for my school with the CPA. I considered joining mainly for the benefits that CPA has (preference for mind pad submissions, networking with students, etc.) but I’m sure there are also benefits to having it on your CV. It shows leadership and engagement in the academic community. It is expensive for 3 months of the remaining year, but if you’re looking to publish, I’d say that’s enough of a pro!
  4. I only met with one PI I reached out to back in August and she was the one who suggested a meeting. Most of the PIs I've spoken too as well have not been receptive to pre-application conversation (I was actually surprised so many people were organizing zoom meetings with PIs!). I don't think this is abnormal at all, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.
  5. I haven't heard back from the PI I emailed , but it's really not in my top few schools or anything so I'm not too concerned. Have you tried sending a polite follow-up?
  6. Thank you, yeah I saw that! But is seems like requests like those are for dire circumstances. My scores exceed their requirements. I’m more concerned about whether to submit to other schools if anyone has perspective on that.
  7. While we’re on the topic of scores and whether or not to send, I am also wondering whether I should be confident in sending my scores. I’m relatively proud of my quant and AWA scores (65th in quant and 93rd in AWA) but I’m a little insecure about my verbal score (72nd). If anyone can shed some light on this I’d really appreciate! I go back and forth on whether or not I’m happy with them. For uManitoba (one of my top choices) they still require their GRE scores and I fell exactly on par with their average admitted verbal score and well above their quant and AWA... but I know many other schools have higher standards. Thoughts?
  8. Yes I'm so peeved!! Like I studied for months, did well, but I don't want to spend loads of money sending the scores if I don't need to. Basically only wrote it as a safety blanket if I don't get in this year. If you look at it from that perspective it's less frustrating lol
  9. Not sure about this to be honest... I haven't given it much thought as of yet, but def waiting until at least the first week of August to reach out again. If anyone has info on this lmk!!
  10. I emailed 11 POIs on Monday. 6 got back to me and I'm still waiting on 5. I was surprised that it took those six between 20 mins and 1 day to respond (didn't think it would be so soon before I got a response). A lot of POIs take late July and early August off for vacation is what I've heard, so I'm probably going to wait 2 weeks as well before considering a follow up.
  11. Are those of you who have reached out to PIs including a CV in your emails? I am planning on doing that (and including my CV) this week and I'm wondering if that's considered standard.
  12. Hoping to match with a PI doing work with the geriatric clinical population-- so basically anything from biomarkers of dementia to caregiving interventions in the aging pop. (specifically those with age-related cognitive deficits!) I really can't be picky since there's maybe 10 PIs total that focus mainly on the elderly comm. and many of them aren't accepting students this year (ugh) Hbu?
  13. Hi everyone! So excited this thread was started. This will be my first cycle applying (for reference, I'm applying across the country-- UCalgary, Ryerson, UVic, UManitoba, Concordia, URegina, Mac, etc.). In other words I'm really just concerned with getting in this round and finding a supervisor that matches my interests perfectly, no matter where that might be (not that I really had a choice, my research interests aren't that popular lol). Anyway, my main question is-- do we think that because the GRE was waived for the majority of Canadian schools, that the application pools will be much larger than usual? Seems pretty logical to me, and it's been kind of a terrifying thought. I know that most of us applying to clinical are in it for the long haul, but the idea that the program is way more accessible without the GRE has def crossed my mind. Maybe they'll be harsher with GPA qualifications? Thoughts? Good luck to everyone!
