  1. I had a video meeting with a POI from UTSC today Ryerson I only got general responses from the emails I sent out telling me to apply.
  2. Not sure if anyone has posted about this already but is it a good idea to apply to additional funding other than the SSHRC ? I was only planning on submitting an application for that one is there other ones I should be looking at ? ?
  3. I think that’s personal preference if it was me and it is only one school I wouldn't bother, last year I took the GRE in November and it was super stressful studying for the test and doing applications at the same time. Plus your scores are decent and Im pretty sure UBCO (if thats the school you were referring to) the min to apply is the 50th percentile so you should be fine and your time may be better spent focusing on other aspects. But If you feel confident you could get a significantly better score maybe go for it ?
  4. I have seen on a few websites that some schools aren't accepting any international applications this year due to Covid so just double check the schools site beforehand! Other than that the process is pretty similar if your from an english speaking country I believe. Definitely not too late for emails though last year I emailed beginning of November which was late but still got a few positive responses.
  5. Thats like the same as what I got ? I got 86th for verbal and 52 for quant but from what ive heard from current grad students most places really dont care as much about the quant. I also have heard one supervisor say that they still wont take any students who dont submit the GRE (which I dont think will be a common opinion) but I think it really is depends on the school/ supervisor so its hard to know whats best. Im planning to submit mine still because I think they are good enough that they wont hurt my chances.
  6. Im going to submit my scores still I think because I did fairly good in the verbal section at least haha. If I had average/ not amazing scores then I wouldn't bother to submit them.
  7. Hi guys! This will be my second year applying just wondering if anyone has any general advice guidelines for what to say in an initial email to POIs? Last year I did fairly general ones stating my research interests/goals and how they relate to theirs but didn't hear back from a few or had very general responses saying to apply. Thanks!! Also is anyone else low key annoyed that they spent a ton of time and money on the GRE only to have it waived? I just re-took it online a month ago ?
