It seems that all offers are out...
Has anyone even claimed an acceptance from UVA in any subfield? It seems a bit strange to send out wait-lists before acceptances or rejections? I do hope UVA hasn't sent out all their offers for this cycle.

While results coming out on weekends is uncommon, Northwestern just released all its results for History PhD applicants today, with some claiming rejections in the history forum so I think it can happen. I think those Duke results are probably real since they have a lot of details attached to them re interviews etc. Hoping they get back for History PhD applicants soon too.
If someone claims it on this thread, then they are likely to be legitimate results. Till that happens, I would err on the side of those results being fake.

Does Berkeley usually do phone calls? Is this another troll or are the acceptances actually legitimate?

Anyone have guesses as to when Ohio State will put us out of our misery/give some closure? In the past it seems like acceptances and rejections are pretty much back to back but it's been almost a week since the initial wave of acceptances and my status still says pending.
Do all departments operate as such, sending out acceptances one day and rejections the next? Maybe they will be sending out another wave of acceptances. Hang in there you got this! I'm sure you'll hear good news

I'm also claiming UW-Madison. Very relieved to get in somewhere atleast
Had an interview as well

I know -- My fear lies with the funding part of the admissions equation for some schools. Getting one acceptance and being unable to attend because of personal budget constraints is my biggest fear at the moment.
Same here. I won't be able to attend graduate school if it's not fully-funded

At least being pessimistic means I can be happy if I get at least one piece of good news!
Yeah all I want is just one fully-funded acceptance and I will be the happiest man alive

I too haven't heard anything, but I believe the results are real, it's not too early.
Is Princeton going to only release admits and waitlists today? Do you suppose we would get rejections too?

For the UT-Austin people:
Does hearing no news today mean bad news i.e. that we would be rejected? I'm curious if admissions have sent out all their acceptances and waitlists they plan to for this cycle.

I hope you're right, but in my opinion they probably send the acceptances first and then the waitlists. It looks like they've moved on to waitlists a while ago now.
I didn't see a lot of American or Theory acceptances for UT-Austin, so perhaps they are rolling out decisions by subfield. Hopefully we do see some more acceptances in the coming days.

Congratulations to the person who received that acceptance, assuming it's real. This is very concerning, as UVA was a target school for me in regard to research fit

Anyone claiming the BU or UVA acceptances? Were they standard acceptance emails or personalized from people at the school?
I don't see a UVA acceptance on the results page? Has UVA started sending out results already?

It seems that the University of Minnesota is cancelling applications for the upcoming 2021-22 year as well. I'm not sure when they updated this on their website, but I already had an application open for this program.
https://cla.umn.edu/polisci/graduate/how-apply
"The Department of Political Science will not be admitting students to the PhD program for the 2021-2022 academic year. The next application deadline will be December 15, 2021 for Fall 2022 admission consideration."

Thank you for your response! Good luck on your cycle as well.

Hello all,
I'm looking to apply to PhD programs in political science this upcoming cycle and I wanted to get a better understanding of what schools I should be targeting and applying to given the state of the application process right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking to apply pretty broadly. I'm targeting schools in the Top 15, but also in 20-35 range.
PROFILE:
Undergrad Institution: Large R1 Top 50
Majors: Political Science and Economics
Undergrad GPA: 3.7 overall, 3.9+ Pol Sci GPA
GRE: 161-163V/162-164Q/5.5 AWA - My target schools have mostly made it not required/optional
Any Special Courses: Econometrics/statistical analysis, independent undergrad thesis
Writing Sample: Planning to submit an excerpt from my undergraduate thesis which is closely related to my research interests.
Letters of Recommendation: 3 strong LORs from professors who I have conducted research under and I had TA'd under
Research Experience: Research Assistant for numerous projects in both Pol Sci and Econ, applying relevant skills and training in methods and data analysis. Can't get it published, but hope to expand upon my undergraduate thesis in my graduate research.
Teaching Experience: Grader/TA for a couple of undergrad Pol Sci and Econ courses
Subfield/Research Interests: American Politics - Electoral Politics/Institutions
Other: Work experience throughout undergrad in various professional fields
Thank you again in advance and good luck to everyone in their cycles.
