Hi, Conswrtng! Nice "meeting" you! I have never talked to another Brazilian here. This site is very helpful. I've been here since I applied to the MA in 2020 :)
Keep me posted about your apps. I hope you get in!
No, but I emailed Ms. Moon and she told me that I was waitlisted because they received over 150 applications. It's very odd; I don't know anyone who was admitted.
I'm glad you'll join NC State. Congrats!!!!
Did you get in? 🤞🏻
Update: sorry I only now read the post below. I’m sorry you didn’t get in My research also mixes different fields such as Applied Linguistics and Technology.
I applied to the Ph.D. in TLPL (LLSI), but I haven't heard anything from them, I mean, Kay Moon told me they would finalize the decisions and notify the admitted guys before February ends. Let's see, it's Feb 22 today. I'm not so concerned about it because I was admitted to other programs, and I will continue in my university (UIUC).
I wouldn’t say this is s rejection phrase. I know my advisor says it to everyone after he interviews them. My advisor is the director of my program, so I’d say it’s a pretty standard phrase that doesn’t mean much!
I’m glad you were interviewed by Maryland. Did you apply for the Applied Linguistics and Language Education Ph.D. in the College of Education or did you apply for the Ph.D. in Linguistics in the Department of Linguistics?
Congratulations on your admittance to Ohio!
Hi,
I’m glad you started this discussion.
I applied to 3 programs, but I only heard from the university I’m currently doing my master’s.
UIUC - accepted
University of Maryland - Nothing yet.
Arizona State - Nothing yet.
1. Yes! We usually have assistantships here.
2. Well, we don't make a lot of money here, but it's enough for me and my family (my wife and two kids). Most programs pay "decent" stipends.
3. It's usually simple. You'll need a statement of purpose, recommendation letters, resume, writing sample, and some cases GRE.
Hope it helps!
