  1. Hi guys! As you know, I was accepted to the University of Illinois and the University of Alabama. I already accepted Illinois’s offer, but I can change my decision until April 15th. If you guys had to choose between these two outstanding universities, which one would you choose? Illinois: Stipend: USD 12,738 Health insurance: partial Proof of funding: USD 24,000 (for myself + dependents) Sponsor: a friend of mine, an American citizen. - - - Alabama Stipend: USD 14,364 Health insurance: full coverage Proof of funding: USD 16,036 (b
  2. Guys! I have awesome news (again)! 😃 I was officially accepted to the University of Alabama. I’m really happy, even thought I’ve already said YES to Illinois 😂
  3. Thanks, VLE! I’ve just talked to someone in my department and they told me I’ll have to show a proof of funding of US$24,241 😕 I’m not happy with that. I dunno what I’m going to do.
  4. Sorry, I only saw it now. Yes, I received my funding offer even before. The head of the department emailed me to say I had been awarded financial support in the form of at 33% time Teaching Assistantship for the academic years of 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. I couldn’t be happier. I am now only concerned about the proof of funding because I have three dependents, but I haven’t received any emails from Illinois talking about it. I emailed the program director today, but he said he doesn’t know much about this kind of thing, so he forwarded my message to grad services. The inform

  6. Hi everyone! I was OFFICIALLY accepted to Illinois! I’m so happy! Thanks for all the prayers and positive thoughts! 🙏😃✨
  7. Thank you so much! I have hope I’ll be officially accepted to another school! 🙏
  8. One last thing: you can definitely email Dr. E. to ask for updates on your status. Dr. E is awesome and he does his best to help everyone.
  9. You will hear from them soon. I only heard before because I submitted my application in October. Good luck! You’ll love that department. It’s just a pity the grad school didn’t accept my transcript! It’s a nightmare, I don’t want to hear again the word “Iowa” for the next few years.... 🥺🥺🥺
  10. ISU = Iowa State University? I have heard from them. I was unofficially accepted on a Thursday and rejected on a Monday. I’m really disappointed. (see the posts above)
  11. Yes, this waiting is killing me!!!! Stay strong, everything happens for a reason. Easier said than done, I know 🥺
  12. Thank God it had nothing to do with your degree. I’m pretty you’ll be accepted somewhere! 🤞🏻
  13. Thanks! It’s been super hard. I haven’t slept well since Monday, but there’s still hope! I won’t give up!
  14. Hi Saina 🙋🏻‍♂️ I’m so really sorry to hear your received a rejection. It really sucks 😔 I don’t know if you have received an offer yet, but I also hope you’re accepted at other schools. Thanks for your words!
  15. I feel you 🥺 Did they say why they rejected your application? 😕
  16. Just an update: Here’s the email I sent yesterday: Dear Mark, In your email, you have stated the following: "If you have additional information showing your Bachelor’s degree program was a four year program when you were enrolled, we will review your application again." Therefore I am writing to ask that you please reconsider your decision with regards to my admission case given the additional information about my degree that is provided in the attached letter from A. S., Registrar of University Anhembi Morumbi. As you requested, this letter certifies that my Bachelor's degre
  17. Exactly! My bachelor’s degree is a normal 4-year degree. This is all wrong! 😭 But I hope they change their minds after they read the letter the registrar wrote yesterday.
  18. 🥺🥺🥺 This is really kind of you! Thank you so much! God bless you!
  19. The Registrar of UAM issued a new document that says I was enrolled in a full 4-year program, but I took more courses/credits every semester and was able to graduate in 3 years instead of 4 years. I just hope this is sufficient documentation!
  20. 🤔 I believe this “Homologacion de títulos extranjeros de educacion superior” is the same as WES or any other credential evaluation company in the US. So, Iowa doesn’t accept these evaluations, they have their own evaluators. I don’t think their evaluators are bad, but they don’t understand anything about the educational system in Brazil. For example, they compare my program (that I started in 2016) to the program nowadays, and yes, they’re completely different because the Ministry of Education messed everything up in 2018. UAM is helping me now. I still have hope! Thanks for
  21. Thanks, Paula. I actually asked them if I could take extra courses but they said taking extra courses at ISU would not be an option because ISU would not be awarding me an undergraduate degree (unless I apply for a new four-year BA degree and start all over again, but that's not what I’m proposing). From what I understood, the problem wasn’t the number of hours/credits, but the time I spent in college. I’m guess they believed my BA was a pre-baccalaureate or something. But it doesn’t even exist in Brazil. If you don’t complete your program, you won’t even be awarded a degree. The system here
  22. Thanks, brother! I was hopeless about my acceptance to Iowa State, but something has just happened. My university in Brazil issued a document that says I enrolled in a 4-year program but graduated in 3 years because I took more courses. I had already said that, but I believe my word isn’t enough.
  23. Mark, Since it says on Iowa’s website that from India, Bangladesh, Canada,Nepal, and Pakistan are not accepted, but 3-year degrees from other countries are reviewed on an individual basis, I kindly ask you: what’s missing? What’s wrong with my degree? I’m pretty sure my university will do its best to help with this process. I’ve just reached out to my advisor in Brazil and he said there’s nothing wrong with my degree. Many of my classmates have been accepted to American and Canadian universities. Please, let me know if there’s something I can do to change that.
  24. Yes, I had a long conversation with my POI. He did his best to help me, but the evaluators said they wouldn’t accept my degree. I emailed the evaluators to know why they didn’t consider my degree equivalent to a BA degree, but they haven’t replied yet. 10 minutes ago someone from the English department emailed me to say “goodbye” It’s sad!
