Hello - I got my rejection from Rutgers last week!
Oh interesting... i haven't received any email... not sure what to think of this 😕
and so sorry about your rejection

Any news from Rutgers and NYU DrPH programs? Rutgers said they will get back to us with decisions by the first week of march 😕

Got rejected from JHU’s drph program. Feeling upset as this was my top choice. But it is what it is.

I have called JHSPH admission office and was told all the decisions will be released by end of tomorrow (accept, waitlist, reject). Hope there is still an chance for "Under Review".
OMG! you just gave me hope!!
i have already made amends that i was rejected but now i hope for an acceptance!!
Good luck to all of us still "under review".

JHU DrPH is still under review after an entire day of checking the portal -- applied to implementation science (did anyone get a response?).
if i was rejected why cant they post this immediately rather than make us all wait for nothing? but congrats to all admitted to JHU! Well deserved achievement

any updates from Columbia's DrPH program? I'm a bit confused if they conduct interviews for the DrPH epidemiology program...

Nobody has had a DrPH interview invite for Hopkins yet?
Hopkins does not usually conduct interviews for their DrPH program as per their website. an interview invite does not mean anything from what the admissions told during the DrPH open house.

Did anyone else receive a welcome letter from BUSPH?
I did not interview and it has been radio silence, but I received an email today that said
Welcome Bayou_Cat,
At BUSPH, you are joining a community filled with the next generation of public health leaders.
It goes on to mention the benefits of being a BU graduate student, and ends with :
We look forward to meeting you on our BUSPH campus.
What is this, y’all?
Yup, received one as well. It's very frustrating and unprofessional from their end sending such emails...

Rejected from Harvard's DrPH program - honestly, not upset at all.
-
any updates when DrPH programs will start contacting with admissions? I am mostly interested in Harvard, BU, NYU, and Columbia...
-
I'm adding my 5 CITI trainings as well haha
thanks for the coursera - wasnt sure if its worth adding them since many people say it either wont hurt or say mentioning coursera certificates is somewhat useless since anyone can do them ?
-
Hey guys, in SOPHAS app, would you recommend to include/add any Coursera certificates under the "Licenses and Certification" section that are more or less related to the field of study I am interested in ?
thanks a lot and good luck to us all
-
What questions would you ask potential advisors before admission while searching for the best programs to apply to?
thanks!
-
Hey all - when our recommenders submit the recommendations, do they upload the letter or type-in the answers to specific questions?
just curious of the process.

Hi all,
This may sound a bit weird but I am thinking of reaching out to some researcher and ask if there is a possibility to work in their lab as a volunteer to gain more experience in the field. I have graduated almost 5 years ago and after an unsuccessful 2020 PhD application I have been working towards improving my data skills. Is it worth a shot reaching out? My professor with whom i had a really good relationship has retired and no longer conducts research.
thanks!!

While research experience can certainly set you apart, I don’t think it is the end all be all for DrPH programs. I have minimal research experience but was accepted to all of the programs I applied to. I think there were a few things that helped me. I have a great deal of leadership experiences from grad school and within my work. Although only in the field 6 years, I’ve had increasing responsibilities and have actively sought out experiences that make me a better leader and public health practitioner. In my personal statement I was able to paint a clear picture of why I love public health and how the DrPH would help me make a greater impact in my area. Lastly, I had pretty solid letters of recommendation.
I hope this was helpful. I get the sense that programs really look at applicants holistically.
Thank you for your reply!! his is very helpful! I, too, have 6 years of experience -- but mostly from work. Some programs ask for a writing sample - can you share what sample you chose to provide, as in was it work-related or a school essay?

Since this PhD app cycle wasn't as successful as I hoped it would be, I am trying to re-evaluate my application and re-apply for Fall 2022. Those who applied to DrPH programs - how important is research experience in this case? What do you think helped you to get in?
thanks!

Guess it's my turn to say that Duke University (PhD in Population Health Sciences) invited me for an interview. Much excitement

Happy to see some people getting acceptances
My anxiety level is now astronomical - I just need any decision notice at this point to calm down haha

Just got rejection notice from NYU Grossman / Vilcek. It was one of my top choices. Oh well...

Anyone else in the same boat and haven't heard from any schools yet? I know it's still early for the programs with later deadlines but the silence is crazy!
I'm in the same boat. Still waiting.
Applied to 9 programs.

Happy New Year everyone
Any updates from Harvard's PHS in Global Health and Population (Health Systems) and Johns Hopkins' Health Systems? I can't figure if both programs require an interview
