Seven rejections this year, and now it's time to prepare for the next cycle. I'm definitely a little frustrated, but not nearly as much as I thought I would be with all rejections. Going to triple my number of applications for next cycle, and hopefully have a much stronger sample on hand.

The support at Alabama sounds great, but give me that Arizona sun and nature every time.
-
Guess that's a nope for me, too. Which means my application season is toast.

My favorite novel!

I appreciate the defense, but I'm not really bothered. I knew going in there was a chance I wouldn't get in, and so far I haven't, pending UW's decision. Assuming I don't get into UW, I only be 20 percent of the way toward matching Marshall's resume of rejection. Besides, I grew up in a competitive, athletic atmosphere, so I've dished out plenty of shit talk, and I can certainly take it back, especially when it's coming from a five-year reject who hasn't accomplished any more than I have. And that's as much attention as I need to give ole Gertie for now.

Congrats! Last year I noticed there were some people who were accepted and said they were turning it down. So, you never know!
-
You best quote me on it. Can't wait for next season, bud.

I'm not feeling too bad about it, actually. The only part that sucks is all the waiting again, but I feel inspired and ready for more of this next year. I've learned a lot, and I already see a lot in my writing right now that's better than when I applied this round. I think we've got this next year!

Mine just showed up about 20 minutes ago, so these all seem to be staggered in a weird way. But, like you said, maybe next year if Washington doesn't come through. My list for next year is going to be real long.

Officially got my Notre Dame rejection finally. I think it's a fair assumption that Iowa and Michener are rejections, so that just leaves UW as a question. Of course it comes down to my beloved Seattle campus in the end. 0a/0w/6r/1p

Poets and Writers used to do a comprehensive ranking, but they haven't done it since 2012 because they realized there's no good method to objectively rank schools.
-
Goddamn that is awesome! Big kudos!
-
Totally, it is. I just thought it was a funny comment to suggest that there aren't people who will pay out the ass for their kids to get an Ivy League on the resume.

You underestimate the rich and connected.

Sorry to hear! I'll probably receives the same news soon. Dang, I was hoping we'd all have a nice little GradCafe cohort together in South Bend.

Knoxville is a more urban environment than Laramie, but Wyoming definitely has more beautiful scenery. And Laramie is about two hours from Denver, so traveling isn't so bad. I'd take Wyoming by a slight bit over Tennessee.

Mine also just says it's in review.

You're doing the Lord's work.

I was there 2016-2020. I attended after a few gap years following high school, so I had friends in my time there, but also had friends that were there 2011-2015.
-
Hey, I went to UW for my undergrad too! But I majored in journalism. I know a lot of CW people, so depending on when you attended, we may have some mutual friends.

Well after one reported fiction acceptance each for Notre Dame and UW yesterday, there seems to be no further word on either. It's always possible that only one person accepted posts between here and Draft, but it seems unlikely given the prevalence of people accepted to other big programs. So I don't know what to think of my chances.

Looks like he got a phone call from Uwem Akpan

Where the Gator people at? There's a University of Florida acceptance on Draft. Edit: for fiction

If you can afford it and really want to go, that's your call, but if I get a partially-funded offer, I'm just trying again next year. There's no universe in which I take on loans for an MFA.
-
Not everybody gets full funding, and I'm not sure how many people get it.
