That Michigan piece is a big one...I guess Iowa, Michener, and Virginia are the last of the REALLY big names left on the board.
-
Backup plan is to work, save up money, write, and go through all this madness again.
-
Looking back at years past, there seems to be no correlation in timing between CNF and fiction/poetry at Iowa. We probably still have a few weeks to wait.
-
I believe they have the same faculty, so maybe they have some of the same people making decisions.
-
Yep. They get so many applicants, and I don't need feel they are obliged to be nice about it, just professional. Also, I just want them to get to the point and tell me I didn't make it. I just need the information so I can move forward with my plans.

Got an email from University of Washington today... ...and they were letting me know that my login ID I used in undergrad is going to expire soon.
-
Just got mine as well! And I got my WashU rejection earlier today.
-
I tend to let my prose get really purple at points, almost to the point of poetry, and then I usually insert something blunt and absurd to bring it back a bit. I chose playwriting as my second at Michener, to try to recapture my old high-school theatre-class glory. I was so close to choosing screenwriting too, though.

That's great! Lots of positive news on here today.
-
Hell to the yes!!! Congrats!!!!
-
There are several people on Draft who mentioned getting acceptance calls on weekends.
-
I'm not writing like I was before applying. I get spurts here and there where I'll be really productive for a day. The positive thing is that I'm always mapping out ideas and I know what to work on. My life in general is kind of up in there, even besides applications, so i'm confident I'll get back on track once I hear from all the schools.
-
Several schools have said in their letters of acceptance or rejection that they received more applicants than usual this year. The only name I can remember for sure is Florida State, but there were other schools that said the same thing.
-
I believe the way it works at almost all schools is that the department chooses who they want, and then they just send it to the graduate department for approval, which is basically just a formality. So you should be good! Congrats! Flagstaff is great. You're one of the few people I've seen applying to Washington besides myself. I hope they send out acceptances soon.
-
Welcome! Good list of schools you've got there. I haven't read Mrs. Dalloway, but To the Lighthouse is one of my favorite novels. Woolf is easily one of best writers I've read.
-
Yep, The Writing Life is excellent.
-
Cruel. A big envelope is always (for undergrad, at least) a sure acceptance. My acceptance to UW literally said "The BIG Envelope" on it.
-
Currently on Steinbeck's Cannery Row. Almost done with it, and then I'll probably move on to Sons and Lovers by D.H. Lawrence.
-
It took them like three weeks to accept my application. They have only have one or two people handling people who request to join, so it takes a while. On Rutgers: someone said that portals have been updated, and to check there.
-
There are people on Draft who have heard from them.
-
I saw that on Draft. Really big blunder on their part. That's more than just marketing. It literally says "Prepare for your arrival Autumn 2021." Can't believe they would send that out to people.
-
This year they made everyone send in by mail and also upload a backup copy into the application.
-
Damn, sorry to hear! I'm still waiting on my WashU rejection as well, along with Vanderbilt.
-
Well, I got it from him earlier in that argument. And then I looked dumb.
-
Can't believe I was actually fooled.
