Northern Arizona University is also calling people today.
-
They didn't specify genre
-
Heads up: Someone in Draft just got an acceptance call from Arizona State. Director Sally Ball called and said she would be calling the other accepted students today.
-
I don't think it's common, but I have seen people mention they were accepted with an email to check their portal.
-
Ah, okay. Good to have some news. Where did you hear that? Of course my #1 option is going to keep me waiting...
-
Haha we're all really helping those stereotypes about paranoid MFA applicants.
-
Maybe. I'm not going to overthink things yet. I'll just wait until I hear about acceptances and lose my mind afterward.
-
Florida State and WashU both said in their acceptance letters that they had vastly more applicants compared to usual. Still waiting on my official rejection from WashU.
-
Mine also says forwarded to graduate committee. Not sure that it's meaningful, unless we all three made it in! Which is highly unlikely but would be amazing.
-
Welcome! I also just got a rejection from Ole Miss! It's great to see so many applicants from India. I had the fortune of visiting Bangalore once, and I'd love to go back and explore more of your country.
-
Illinois and IU sent out responses. Those two were maybe a week or so ago, so unfortunately they might be done with acceptances. You still have some solid possibilities ahead of you, though. I hope these dominoes just keep falling through this next week.
-
Ready for it! I was in a bad mood yesterday, but today's better. Ready to hear from the rest.
-
Ole Miss finally updated their site to say that they are done with their phase 2 notifications. So now I can officially say: 0a/0w/1r/6p. Of course, that 1 is about to become a 2 once WashU gets around to sending their rejections.
-
Welcome! Unfortunately, UMass seems to have accepted its people, but you never know! I wouldn't worry about Draft; they always take a few weeks to accept new people. Are you from the northwest? I did my undergrad at UW, and have spent a lot of time in Bellingham as well, so either would be a great place to do an MFA.
-
Aw I'm sorry! I'm still waiting for Ole Miss and WashU to officially put me out of my misery.
-
Some people have posted acceptances and waitlists to Oregon, but I haven't seen anything from the other schools. Vanderbilt is right up atop my list along with Texas, so I've been waiting anxiously for it.
-
I'm really banking on this whole "writing is subjective" thing. I'm thankful that Ole Miss and WUSTL aren't in my top three, but it's certainly discouraging for my prospects at Iowa, Michener, and Vanderbilt, which probably receive more applicants. I wish all schools had length requirements like Iowa's. I was able to send three short stories there, and they were each distinct in terms of content and tone. Anyways, I'm just doing some classic rejection rambling now.
-
Exactly how I feel. Ole Miss won't give a rejection; they'll just update their site to say that Phase 2 has been handed out. But I'm ready for WashU to just give me the axe already.
-
I think I would, too. My friend lived in College Park and then in Olney, and they sound way too plain and suburban for me. Now he works in a lab at Brown, and Providence sounds much more my speed.
-
One of my best friends went to Maryland (for astrophysics) and loved it. Very nice area with a lot going on, and also kind of an expensive place to live.
-
Same to you. I now see multiple mentioning getting acceptances and waitlists via email for both fiction and poetry...this week is off to a brutal start. There is that silver lining, at least. I've heard good things about St. Louis, but I've also heard that Missouri is brutally conservative elsewhere. Having only ever lived in Portland and Seattle, it'll be a real wakeup call living in a new part of the country.
-
Right after I posted, someone on Draft said they got in for poetry. Only acceptance mentioned so far.
-
My portal doesn't say anything, either. Tough school to get into, but I would love to go there.
-
The results section has a waitlist from WashU via email. Nothing on Gradcafe about it, so not sure whether it's real.
-
Welcome! I follow Draft pretty closely and haven't seen any notifications from any of those schools yet. Michener and Vanderbilt are my top two choices, so anxious to hear from them!
