I still haven't heard anything. I've talked to a couple other people on Draft who haven't heard anything, and both of them got accepted into other schools already. So Ole Miss isn't the end-all, be-all (I hope). But hopefully they're still getting their messages out.

Congrats! I hope my email is coming today, but I'm prepared to be disappointed.

I applied for fiction. I heard that their emails were kind of a mess, staggered and with the documents formatted oddly, so that's my only hope, but I'm not overly optimistic. Kind of dejecting to not even make it to the second phase of what I thought would be one of the easier schools on my list to get into.
-
Ah shit. Someone got an email from Ole Miss saying they've moved on to Phase 2. First time I'm hearing about a school I've applied to.
-
All and any of the above, apparently.
-
I had a missed call and a voicemail from a Texas number last week, and it was some bullshit about my social security number had been compromised and I needed to call right away.
-
Congrats! Eugene is a great place.

Someone posted an acceptance to Rutgers-Camden on Draft. They didn't specify which genre. That's a school I really wish I'd applied to, but it's on my list for next year.
-
Somebody else on Draft got into George Mason and said they sent an SOP with the wrong school name.
-
Aaand they just keep rolling in. Anyone apply to Idaho? According to people who received phone calls, today they're reaching out to everybody who got in.
-
I remembered that you particularly had Minnesota in mind. I've only seen the one acceptance so far, and it's from someone who has gotten a lot of acceptances so far. Seems like a weird year to apply for Minnesota, given how they were navigating COVID. They're one of my top Plan B choices. Hang in there! It ain't over yet. I'm fortunate that I haven't seen any acceptances to any of my applied-to schools yet, but maybe it's just delaying the hurt that's sure to come.
-
Ho boy, another big acceptance via Draft: Minnesota for poetry. I believe we have a few Minnesota applicants here. Anybody hear anything? Lot of schools giving decisions this week; it's all happening.
-
I haven't noticed anything on Draft that hasn't also been posted here.

Damn, bro, you were quick in getting that new account. I like the username.

I can only speak to a longer piece, which is a Joan Didion memoir, The Year of Magical Thinking. It really changed my perception of what mourning looks like. It's very nuanced and was written after her husband unexpectedly passed. So sorry to hear about your loss.

It really was a lovely stay. And there are much more dramatic examples of Victorian architecture in the neighborhood. I forgot how nice Astoria is. Hadn't been for about six years, as lately I've dedicated more time to the Cascades than the coast.

I don't think they fund all their MFAs, either, which is too bad. But I would hate for my first rejection to come from my alma mater, lol.
-
Someone says they were rejected from the University of Washington, not through email, but by checking the site. I just checked and my status just says my application has been received and will be reviewed, so I'm not sure what that's all about.

I applied to WashU and I think I only have the applyweb portal.

In Astoria, so actually the Goonies town, but Haystack Rock is down south quite a ways. I came here a bit growing up, but it's been a while. Lovely place, really. The Airbnb I'm in is a beautiful old Victorian house, so it's been great for reading Joyce and working on the novel. And yes, my brother has always referred to "beach people." Astoria is different, but most of Oregon's coastal towns have something a little off about them.

The person who got in said FSU this year received twice as many applicants as normal.
-
Ah, shit, looks like a Florida State acceptance went out. I know there are a lot of people here who applied to Florida schools.
-
I think—for me, at least—it's really easy in hindsight to ask why one didn't apply to other schools, especially once acceptances roll in. I see how excited people are and I think, I could have gotten in and I should have tried! Like, why did I end up not applying to Indiana and choosing to apply to Ole Miss? I'm happy about applying to Ole Miss, but at this point I can't remember how I narrowed it into my list of seven. Which is why I'm also going down the 20-something applications route for next year if this year doesn't work out. Agh, unrelated tangent: I'm currently staying a few days at the Oregon Coast (in an isolated, COVID-safe manner), and I thought it would be a nice way to distract myself from MFA stuff, and at times it is, but I walk around and look at Victorian houses and oceanside cliffs and it all just brings me back to writing. Goddammit.

Comments are saying it is George Mason. That Indiana piece seems like a big one. I was very close to applying there.
