I had a preliminary interview at SHSU back in December and never heard anything beyond that. I emailed the POI several times for feedback and also didnt hear anything. I am wondering how common this is and if typically applicants recieve feedback from POI especially after meeting?

I had a preliminary at SHSU in December and had the official interview in January. I didn't get an offer and post-interview, the POI ignored my emails... so odd and frustrating. This is my second time applying and I've never had a POI not respond.

  2. School: U of Utah

    Type: Clinical PhD

    Track: Child

Acceptance/Waitlist/Rejection: Unofficial acceptance. POI made an offer but said the department was still working out funding. She said junior faculty are often given priority for departmentally funded slots (POI is senior faculty). If anyone received an offer from U of Utah, please DM me!

Type of Notification: Email from POI

    Date Notified: Feb. 2nd

    DM for POI: Yes

I applied to a bunch of schools last year and again this year. From experience, I wouldn't start worrying about things until January at the earliest. Dalhousie is one of the only schools (that I know of) that always starts contacting students in December. Seeing as there is likely not going to be any in-person interviews this year, a lot of schools probably won't have set interview days either so interview invites may be even more scattered around this year. I agree completely - the waiting SUCKS but it's not worth worrying too much this early!

Having said that, I'm also checking grad cafe and refreshing my email constantly so I'm really not doing much better at keeping my cool lol.

I applied to two schools in Canada. The rest are schools in the U.S. Not sure what it is with U.S. schools, but faculty review applications right after the deadline. They send their invites mid-/end of December.

Current SFU clinical (forensic) grad student here! I would definitely not expect invites to go out until January, us graduate students were given the heads-up that the applicant shortlist will be determined in early January.

Good to know, thanks! Does SFU do preliminary interviews?

Kylar, did you apply to work with Dr. Kerig? I got a similar message from her when I reached out. I saw in the results thread that at least one person already got an interview invite on the 14th for Utah, but hoping PK hasn't sent hers out yet as I haven't heard anything.

I also applied to work with PK. I got a similar message when I reached out to her in the fall.
