I've lurked for a long time and had to finally say how much of a relief it's been to read everyone else's struggle going through the application process and now the decisions. It's so wonderful seeing how supportive everyone is of each other and their successes and even the mutual middle fingers when there are rejections. You're all delightful and I'm so glad to not feel completely alone in this hair pulling, nauseating thing we've all done.
I have an acceptance from SLC with a small scholarship, but am still waiting on Brown, Iowa, Columbia and NYU. I ate an entire large bag of candy today as my lunch with one shoe on because I'm definitely not stressing over the waiting whatsoever. nope, super chill over here. Probably not even gonna buy another bag of candy from the dollar store. Anyone know a good dentist?

Thank you all for your individual anecdotes regarding the Writing Process. It's done a lot to shore up my confidence in my own submission, my writing more generally.
And, Thanks to those of you who had insight re Iowa and JHU. Being in the dark like this, for this long, is so agonizing. At least I can kinda assume that, if I don't hear from Iowa this week, I'm better off channeling my anxious energy toward another school's decisions. Haha.

Just got accepted (via email) at Georgia College & State with full funding and the Arts & Letters Journal Editing Fellowship! I truly thought this round was going to be a wash - I'm so emotional ?

Greetings, people of Grad Cafe! I, the mysterious forthetruththeyburnyou, am going to let A Cat out of A Bag and let you know that I am in fact The Workshop's Managing Editor. Pleasure making your acquaintance. Please see below for an exciting message!   The Workshop will be hosting a *free* I Applied To MFAs: What's Next? panel for MFA applicants (as well as any of you out there who sat out this cycle, but are thinking of applying down the line) on Sunday, March 14th from 4-5:30PM Eastern.
Our panelists are graduates in poetry, fiction, CNF, and hybrid-genre writing from the University of Alabama, Brown, Cornell, Indiana University, Northern Michigan University, UNC-Wilmington, and Warren Wilson. Members of The Workshop team with MFAs from OSU and CU Boulder will also be in the chat helping answer questions, and the event will be spearheaded by moderator Eshani Surya (U of Arizona). We'll be answering questions on how to proceed once you've heard back from your programs, no matter your results.   Full details as well as links to our registration and Q&A forms are up on The Workshop's site at readtheworkshop.com/events/.    We're also on Facebook @readtheworkshop, Twitter @The__Workshop, and Instagram @readtheworkshop. And we can't wait to have you at our I Applied To MFAs: What's Next? panel!

(with special thanks to @feralgrad for suggesting I post on this thread)

First acceptance! Sarah Lawrence, Poetry. Lovely, warm phone call from Paige-Ackerson Kiely. She mentioned that AWP is this week and that they were generally swamped, but that next week would be more clear. Makes sense that other programs might also be experiencing delays due to AWP.
Anyone have experience with Sarah Lawrence and/or Bronxville? Long ago, I dated a guy whose Mom lived in Westchester. It was beautiful, but tony and filled with a lot of white people (don't get me wrong, some of my best friends -- also me; although my birthfather is from Bolivia; but I currently work with uber-rich white people and I'm pretty over it). I wonder about cost of living, especially since the program is only partially funded. Would love any insights about the program or the area.
Thanks so much for letting me hang with y'all here in GradCafe. I would be feeling insane right now without your generous sharing.

Thank you so much! I'm out of GradCafe "reactions" for today, which are now being transferred to my physical body in a weird but not wholly unpleasant way.

Knowing that your work is resonating with those who are part of the conversation you are joining is profound. Thank you for giving me another reason (besides a completely gorgeous day) to celebrate!

An extremely accomplished poetry teacher of mine, who had almost 40 poems published in journals last year, lets his poems sit for 2-5 years before considering them finished. A 2-5 year waiting period isn't right for everyone, but it's definitely helped me to revisit work months or even years after the red-hot moment of creation has cooled.

Yes! Congrats. The bi-weekly meetings with an advisor are attractive to me as well, as is the proximity to NYC. A couple of writers I know speak highly of Matthea Harvey's work and one of them is friends with Sally Wen Mao and RA Villanueva. Seems like an excellent program. I'm also waiting to hear back from eight others, though Rutgers Camden is not among them. The plot thickens!
