Thanks so much guys!! Sending positive vibes

I JUST GOT AN OFFER FROM USC WITH FELLOWSHIP AAAAH (still have to put it in the survey)
-
I feel like that, so long as no one else gets news as well. Because then if others get news, and I don’t, that’s surely a bad sign?
-
I’m fortunate to have graduated in November, but the flip side is that I’m an unemployed graduate who is struggling to even get a temp job ha. I’m wishing you both, and anyone else in uni right now, best of luck!
-
I received nothing. Anyone else?
-
Guys, but for real, how anticlimactic will this be if we don’t hear tomorrow ??
-
More like I’m holding my breath because I’m so nervous ?
-
For LSE, I can say that's really not the case and it's one of the reasons I wish I would've been able to go back. The ratio of supervisor to PhD student is quite low. For the first couple of years, they meet with you weekly or bi-weekly, as much as you want really. Then once you've actually started writing the PhD dissertation, they allow you more space since you won't actually need them as much.
-
I believe someone mentioned quite a while ago that they are sticking to the timeline.
-
Yes, exactly the same for me! Nice to have comrades in arms.
-
I'm holding out a little hope for tomorrow, but I've been steering clear of the results page this whole week haha
-
I definitely wouldn't worry about it. Funnily enough, I feel too young (23). But it's easier for us to find faults with ourselves I suppose.
-
Hahaha I do hope you get some offers, but I understand that it's good to have back-ups Since I've already done my master's, I'm a bit worried about not having a proper back-up plan since the labor market isn't very reliable.

It is. You can get funding from the uni that is needs based but it's extremely competitive obviously. There are also more program and department specific funding but I do not know much about that. You will need to check the website yourself.
-
It is. And it's rolling admissions, so I suggest applying ASAP. LSE's programmes tend to fill up by March. Edit: for instance, when I applied, I got accepted in early Jan and my programme closed in mid February.

Same here!
-
It can be at any time really. The past couple of years would indicate decisions should have come this week (ofc we still have tomorrow). But, I think there's been a possible delay, as indicated by the suggested time frame in the email they sent.

I’m not
-
Hey! I got my first decision a couple of weeks ago and it was a rejection, from my alma mater so you can imagine I felt like crap for a while, and I’m still waiting on the rest. Then I realized that the rejection was not a reflection on myself, my intelligence or my worth, or even what other admissions committees would think of me. Each uni is different, each perception they have of you against your competitors will be different; the expectations they’ll have of their cohorts will also vary. Just because one or two or 5 unis reject someone doesn’t mean ALL will. I am sure you will end up in the place that is right for you, in terms of academic fit but also in terms of the right atmosphere for you (like support, mental well-being etc.). You have a bright future head of you. Take pride and solace in your work, and just be patient.

Congratulations!! Wishing you the best of luck

Hi guys! I made this for future use as we get our decisions and complete our cycle in the next couple of months
-
Just thought a separate forum area should be made for when the cycle is over for us each individually. Just like in previous years, we can post about our profiles, the various decisions we received, and any advice or insight we have regarding the application process! My cycle won’t be over until April likely, so I have quite a wait The following format is what has been used before regarding the profile: PROFILE:Type of Undergrad Institution: Major(s)/Minor(s):Undergrad GPA: Type of Grad: Grad GPA: GRE: Any Special Courses:Letters of Recommendation:Teaching Experience:Other:

Depends on the uni! Boston U for instance said that it’ll be via the portal.

I completely get that. The thing with Europe is that you also need an actionable PhD proposal at the get go. In the US, it’s obviously flexible since you take courses during the first couple of years, which I now appreciate.

They definitely are much better in the US.
