I haven't heard anything from Columbia. I saw that a couple people commented about interviews and being accepted. I emailed the department on Thursday and they said "Our faculty have gone through all the applications, and will be contacting the individuals they would like to interview in the coming days." I am assuming people have mostly been contacted by now

I mean I think it is understandable to ask, as long as it is respectful. Also since this admissions season has been a bit unusual and as this is a time where things are more likely to change, it seems reasonable to me to ask if the decision has been delayed or if it has been made.

rejected from Duke, Stanford, UMich, and UVA in the past 2 days. Only waiting to hear from Columbia now.

Would it be weird to ask faculty who haven't interviewed you what the status is? Basically I would be asking faculty who I reached out to before submitting applications and was encouraged to apply, but who haven't reached out to me since. Would it be weird to contact them?
