    Congrats on the acceptances!

When did you get JHU PBS offer? And if it's alright who was your PI of choice?

Edit: Also, why aren't you considering UPenn neuro?

Sorry just saw this. Got the PBS offer a couple weeks ago. Co-mentored by Drs. Barrett and Chen.

w/r/t UPenn neuro, I'm still slightly considering it, but they don't have a lab that does work in my specific area

What are you basing your presumed UT Austin rejection on? Just wondering because I haven't heard anything either.

There was a chunk of people that heard a couple weeks ago but nobody since. I haven't heard anything, therefore I assume I'm not getting invited to an interview. I'm starting to assume I'm not getting an interview from Stanford either, but haven't quite lost hope yet.

I think their invites are rolling basis and not all in one day? I received a phone call from stanford's area code, but no one left a voicemail and no email (i think emails pour out later next week), i tried calling back line is busy, anyone have any idea on how they work?

I got a call today from an unknown number but my phone died while it was ringing ? no idea if it was Stanford or spam lol and i can't see the number anymore

I saw that someone received an interview invite from UPenn yesterday on the other forum. Has anyone else heard anything from them?

I don't think they have to fight...from my understanding, and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the department lays out how many students they can take that year depending on funding. But I think it's really all dependent on funding.

But if 10 PIs want students and there's only 5 spots...

Lmao I think clinical psych is the only corner of the universe where med school would even be considered as a backup. I'm starting to think about backups myself- I've been in the same full-time RA job for close to 3 years now after undergrad, and I'm in a tight spot where I wouldn't be sure what to do/what additional qualifications would be available to me in this position if I'm faced with all rejections. I would strongly consider an M.A. (I applied to a couple as well as backups), but I haaate how expensive they are- it's why I opted for an RA job in the first place.

I'm in pretty much the exact same position! But there's just no guarantee even if you have all the right qualifications.

Masters Programs or full time RA/CRC/Project manager positions in labs... but even those are really hard to come by :(

I'm in a full-time research coordinator position now, which is great and I'm lucky to have it. But it's by no means a long-term job. I make 35k haha.

  7. Wow... I thought I wanted to do a Clinical Psych PhD, but these acceptance rates are crazy!! I consider myself a competitive applicant, but when the acceptance rates are so low, how can you plan for anything??

I see some really good research matches at OHSU, for example, but someone on the results page has a 4.0 GPA Clinical Psych Masters and a 3.96 Undergrad GPA, plus research experience, and they didn't even get an interview...

According to their website, the average is 44.5 months of research experience.... what the heck?? That's four years!

I'm so sad right now...I wish these programs weren't so ridiculously competitive.
