  1. Hi guys Wanted to thank y'all for everything this admission cycle. Things have fortunately worked out well for me and I've decided to join CMU. Wish me luck! Anyone also going to Pittsburgh please feel free to message! Good luck to you all.
  2. Do you want to apply in 2022 for PhD starting in 2023 fall? Sort of confused by your first line. I got into CMU neuroscience PhD and am likely to attend there starting this fall. Although it might be too early for me to give advice to anyone yet, I am happy to answer any questions regarding program fit. One thing I found helpful for CMU especially is that my past research aligned extremely well with their departmental interests. It helps to have a solid understanding of the work you're doing now, and to do work that is broad in scope. To make sure that your undergrad GPA is not the deciding factor for your application, make sure to contact multiple professors proactively around summer time. All the best
  3. Congrats on the acceptances! When did you get JHU PBS offer? And if it's alright who was your PI of choice? Edit: Also, why aren't you considering UPenn neuro?
  4. Someone posted the result of acceptance to Oxford Experimental Psychology today. If that person's here and reads this could you please write to me in inbox? I also got an offer and would like to discuss something. Thanks in advance!
  5. Hi everyone, I'd be very grateful if you could share what you know about the following matter: How does a neuroscience PhD from the US compare with one from the UK? Considering the sheer number of active researchers in my field of interest in the US, it's reasonable for me to do a PhD in the US and that will probably carve out a easy trajectory for postdocs. In a way, it will be very convenient to network in the US, and especially in a dept full of researchers whose work I like. On the other hand, I have the opportunity to work in a prestigious university in the UK in a good lab. However, the community there for my kind of research is rather limited, although the neuroscience ecosystem is vibrant on the whole. My worry is that culturally there might be less mixing and collaboration in the UK uni as compared to the US. My worries may be baseless, but can't help thinking there is some truth to it. That's why anything you people can honestly contribute to this discussion will help me greatly. You may also write to me directly in the inbox in case you'd like to share something more "off-the-records". Thanks! I hope you understand my situation! Edit: Equally helpful would be any knowledgeable contacts you could give me and I'll talk to them.
  6. congratulations! did they ask you to tell them if you want to attend?
  7. Has UPenn NGG already scheduled a first round of interviews? If anyone has news about UPenn NGG and UChicago Computational Neuroscience, please let me know here! Thanks in advance.
  8. No mail yet. But I interviewed for PSN too and I expect them to send a mail today. Anyway, interviews should be next week. The intro and social interactions may take place over the weekend. that's my guess, if that makes you less anxious! good luck!
  9. check out a few other replies in the thread too! good luck. it'll all work out!
  10. hey there. I had something similar for CMU PSN this week - 4 one-on-one interviews with faculty I'd nominated before. had half-an-hour interviews. these being my first grad school interviews I also didn't know what to expect. Well they were very cordial and talked to me like a scientist talking to another scientist. They asked me what I'd done research wise before this. Then they talked to me about their research plans. That was it, I could ask more questions about the program, university, city, etc. if i wanted. encouraging experience overall!
  11. A prof at Princeton psych told me all interview invites have been sent out already.
