  1. I interviewed with NYU DrPH in early March. I met with the DrPH Program Director and one other faculty. In addition to standard interview questions (why this degree, why this school, etc.) they asked "what do you think is the most pressing public health issue of our time". I was able to ask them what values they look for in students. It was a very smooth interview, and we went beyond the 45 min allotted time. I received an offer 10 days later. I receive financial support through my employer. Additionally, the NYU program provides a small stipend for incoming students. Happy to answer any other questions!
  2. Hi everyone, I applied in the 2021 cycle and I'm currently in the NYU DrPH program. If anyone has questions, I'm happy to be a resource. Thanks!
  3. I was accepted to NYU's DrPH and accepted the offer! We got the fall 2021 class list already. They are expecting a cohort of 8-10. Hope that you get in
  4. Congrats!! Glad for all the acceptances!! I'll message you
  5. Nice! Are you applying to DrPH programs? Hope you got positive news!
  6. Finally got an email from Drexel DrPH to create an account on their portal to see admissions decision.
  7. Happy to contribute as well @DrPH20xyand @MCH_Hopeful_2021!
  8. Hi everyone, I formally accepted to the NYU DrPH program I'd also like to connect with others going to NYU! I declined my DrPH offers at UIC, UAlbany, Colorado, and UT Austin. (still haven't heard back from Drexel lol) Hope folks hear back from programs/waitlists soon! Also - happy to connect with other DrPH'ers starting this Fall
  9. Yes, fingers crossed! This is the last one I'm waiting for haha. How about you?
  10. has anyone heard from Drexel DrPH? i haven't received any info since i submitted back in Oct. i'm not expecting an acceptance, it would just be nice to know the final decision haha. thank you!
  11. just a quick fyi. got an email notification that I was waitlisted at Rutgers DrPH.
  12. Hi! My interview was with the Director of the DrPH program. They asked questions about why I was interested in the DrPH, why the UIC DrPH specifically (note: highlight the fact that it focuses on adaptive leadership!), and asked me clarifying questions about my resume/personal statement. The Director said the program received about 50% more applicants this year. They also emphasized the requirements of the program e.g. 20 hours of classes/coursework per week, how to balance commitment with full-time job, etc. Overall, it was a very casual, warm conversation. If you'd like to chat more, feel free to message. Thanks! Hope you get accepted, too!
  13. I recommend reviewing the school's / program's "mission, vision, and values". It gives you info as to why you want their specific school. For example, I talked about one school's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and how that aligned with my personal values. The interviewers seemed to be impressed that I could talk about being part of the school's community, not just a student in one specific program. Really ask yourself = why this school? Good luck on your interview You got this!!
  14. Which program? I interviewed with UIC DrPH this past Monday. Interviews are scheduled through the 25th. On Monday, the Director said decisions will be rolling (about 1 week from each interview).
  15. Same!! Got an acceptance email from the DrPH program director saying the official letter will come soon. NYU DrPH ❤️
  16. just got accepted to Colorado DrPH (Community Health & Behavior). I interviewed with them on March 3. offer included a very tiny stipend + assistantship + some tuition remission for a few credits. a bit surprised actually, still processing the offer haha. supposedly they accept 2-3 per cohort
  17. Just got notification of rejection to Berkeley DrPH (email to check portal)
  18. I interviewed with Colorado and NYU (both for DrPH) and sent thank you emails. I was specific about what we discussed (e.g. it was a pleasure to learn more about XYZ), and signed off with how excited I am for the opportunity. Similar to applying to jobs, a thank you note (hopefully) leaves a good impression and a way for the interviewers to remember you (since they interview a lot of folks).
  19. I just got an invite to interview for UIC. Looks like interviews are held from March 15-25 I reached out to Rutgers and they said "We are waiting to hear back from the admissions committee, but as soon as we hear back, we will be notifying all applicants."
  20. Which GW program did you apply to? I applied to the DrPH and radio silence since November.
  21. NYU DrPH program sent invites for interviews last night. Looks like they are doing 20-min interviews the week of March 8.
  22. I'm glad it's a good research fit and sounds like the professor/advisor you'd be working with is a good match to your professional interests! There's definitely a lot that goes into accepting a program. Sometimes I think of it as a heart vs. brain thing = what are the benefits of working with XYZ that aligns with my passions compared to the logistics of funding/cost of living/etc. There's isn't a wrong answer, per se. It's just reflecting what is most in alignment with you at this moment in time.
  23. @drunkenduck Thank you! I know funding is a large component of the PhD decision making process. Another question would be - do you feel the program was a good fit for what you are looking for? (faculty, research, etc.) The PhD is a big commitment, there is no pressure to accept this offer if it's not something you want for the next 5-6 years. (I understand it may mean applying again next cycle, but just wanted to throw that out there).
  24. Hi, thank you for starting this thread. I got accepted to the DrPH in Health Promotion & Health Education at UT Health Austin campus. I think the SPH as a whole is a good school. Good rankings, good resources to the larger UT system. It ranks a bit lower on my personal list, and I may not accept the spot since I've heard back from other programs. I wish I could be more help for the PhD. But I'm happy to chat through anything. Thanks!
