Yeah, fair enough! Good luck, I hope you receive good news about the PhD funding. Thanks for answering all of my questions. The NSSR is my last chance to get into a PhD programme in the US this cycle, so I’m really keen to hear about any updates!

Thank you! They didn't mention living expenses so I don't expect there's a stipend of any kind (I can apply roles in the college if I like). I'm going to speak to them more about the PhD offer (unclear on funding), but I only applied for master's, so if there's no funding the PhD I probably won't be continuing through to that there. Still lots to figure out, but plenty of time.

I was just notified that I got accepted off the waitlist at UMass!!!! To the beautiful person that turned down their spot, I owe you one! 

Claiming a New School for Social Research (NSSR) acceptance. Applied for the master's program, offered full tuition in master's and PhD programs- 7 years of support. Waiting for details on CUNY offer (accepted but haven't received official offer from admissions), not totally sure what I will do. Unreal! Very happy.  

Just got an acceptance to CIR! Was in an email about 45 minutes ago with other info to come. 

To be honest, I hate questions like this because I need to work on my self confidence and identifying and accepting my strengths. But, I will try to answer it for you  
I think it’s two things. Firstly, my graduate level research experience and publications. My background is not purely political science so I have been insecure during the entire application process. So I think my master’s degree and publications really showed my competences and abilities.

Secondly, my statement was very strong. I got feedback from various professors and current PhD students. I think it’s very important you know how to show that you’re knowledgeable of political science generally, as well as the specific areas of research interests and then work in your past experiences to show your competences etc. I also didn’t try to ‘force’ my fit anywhere except BU and Princeton (and I got rejected soooo). 
 

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your responses. I really appreciate it! This is my first time applying to Phds and Im super lost. I think it might be fair to say NYU is done then. If it were ok (I dont know if this is the place to ask), _nutella_ and polisci123_1, can I ask what do yo think was your biggest strength when applying? I am hoping to reapply next year to NYU, its been my dream school for quite a while. I hope this is not a bother! 

I haven’t seen anyone here claim it for CP (only IR and AP, i think). But i’m not sure if it’s likely or unlikely that the DGS sends out acceptances of different subfileds at different times. 
 
Best case scenario (which I hope so lol) is that the result on that page is a troll bc the acceptances for other subfields were sent out this morning, not yesterday. On the contrary, it can be possible too that CP acceptances were all sent out this morning along with other subfields, but the CP people who got it are simply not on this thread.
Another odd thing is that no one has claimed they are waitlisted at all. So I am not sure if the whole process is really done. Then I decided to email the grad coordinator (not the DGS) to ask if all the decisions and admission process are concluded. She replied: we may send additional acceptances in the next few weeks, so have not concluded our process.”
i just hate this in-between feeling where i’m not sure if i am rejected or still have hope!
