Grrr....she told me "within the next couple weeks" like a month ago
-
Thanks for the update! what I want to know is what the deadline is for the first round. she said people havent responded to the offer - when's the deadline for them to respond?
-
She told me last week that they might be making more spots, she also told me that all rejections had already been made and that everyone else was on an unofficial wait list...guess they switched some things up....I'm so impatient
-
Hey! Are you domestic? (In Canada?) I’ve been looking into LSHTM but haven’t applied yet.... I wasn’t sure how recognized it was - feel free to pm me!
-
I mean every time I talk to them they say that they've sent out the first round for all seats and all rejections already and apparently many people are accepting....im just like WHERE
-
I know I've been wondering the same thing
-
Anyone who has received an offer from Waterloo, what is your deadline to decide?
-
Usually means that a first round of offers went out and everyone who hasn't been rejected in on an "unofficial" wait list so you'll start hearing back as people decline offers
-
Oh interesting! Michelle assured us that all applications have been looked over already....thats so weird
-
Also, anyone still waiting to hear from UVic, apparently the first round people have a deadline of April 9th so that should be around when more people will start hearing
-
The head of admission admin (or whatever her position title is) Michelle, told both @minniexo_ the same thing multiple times, that the first round has gone out and all rejections have been made, the rest of us are on a big spreadsheet like an unofficial waitlist and we will be hearing back as the first round people accept/decline their offers. She mentioned to both of us that there is a small chance they'll be adding more spots this year. When I asked her "if you were me, would you be happy about where you are on the list, seeing as you know where I am but obviously cant tell me" and she said "I don't want to be getting anyones hopes up because more people than we expected are actually accepting the offers but you're up there" and at that point I could tell she was getting annoyed with me lol so I ended the convo. Who did you speak with?
-
Yikes that is the exact opposite of what they told me lol
-
I know a lot of people have been saying they want to wait for everything to decide - according to last year's forum it looks like Waterloo offers continue well into May....please don't wait THAT long.... edit: ...please....do it for the waitlisters....

Mac Lifesci undergrad, 3.9 GPA in final 2 years, b+ in stats, TA in science communication course, RA with a prof working on studying workplace health policy implementation surrounding carer employees (full-time working employees who also have to take care of elderly/sick adult family members) kinda public health-ish from a policy implementation perspective. EiC of one of Mac's undergrad journals (implemented increased accessibility strategies) and I've tailored my course load to reflect multidisciplinary perspectives of public health (anthropology, philosophy etc.) so idk not a ton of experience but a decent undergrad

me too...

I also asked for an extension for two different programs (MA in Medical Anthropology and MA in Human Geography and Health) - I was accepted on March 1 and the original deadline for both was the 17th. I think I emailed on the 10th asking for an extension until the end of March and they both gave me until March 31. (but these are research programs keep in mind)

Honestly, there is no "best" way to go about it. It's hard for you, hard for people on the waitlist and everyone else waiting for UofT with you. I do think that this what I would do and what I think is most fair - again, this is my personal opinion Realistically, I don't know how Mac will react to being asked for an extension, they might be perfectly fine with it. Do what you think is right
-
I've heard some different variations. Going through last year's forum it looks like it ranges from 15-70

I 100% understand the want to ask for an extension, and in any other research based program I (and everyone else) would say you can 100% ask for an extension. Programs like the MPH programs at Mac and UofT are SUPER competitive and we all know that they get hundreds of applicants and have very few spots. The schools also know this. In order to ask for an extension (which you can 100% do if you want) you just have to email them and ask. BUT keep in mind that as soon as you do that, they know that they're not your top choice. The waitlist for Mac is filled with students who have Mac as their top (or only) choice and are waiting for people like you who were accepted to make up their minds. In my opinion, I would accept McMaster's offer, and then if you get into UofT, you can withdraw from Mac - this is very common with more competitive or professional programs (according to reddit). I don't think Mac makes you put down a deposit. I'm not trying to tell you what to do in any way, this is the etiquette I've read about on reddit for the more competitive programs. Congrats btw!

Still waiting on Waterloo

? Am I missing something? When I look at this reply it is blank, and my post that you're responding to is also blank - maybe it's just my browser? ?
-
Honestly, I didn't even really ask! I just said that I'm an MPH applicant and that I have a deadline coming up for another program and I know that they're probably getting bombarded with calls but if there was any sort of update they could give me I'd really appreciate it. and we chatted for a bit about how this cycle is crazy and she just looked me up in the system and told me lol it was great

okay now I'm nervous about UVIC - haven't heard anything yet
-
Aww thanks! It is a super competitive year so im not holding my breath
