  1. Probably!
  2. How'd they notify you? and congrats!
  3. The MPH!
  4. yep! she said they've been getting bombarded with calls lol
  5. the admin number! its on the website!
  6. Just got off the phone with Waterloo - they are SO nice, I just asked if they could give me any info on my status because I have a deadline in a few days to respond to a different program and she told me that the first offer did already go out, and that because they had over 600 applicants there were super overwhelmed and might have to create more spaces in the program. She told me that after the first round (and responses) they made a waitlist which I am on, she said I wasn't denied which is good and that looking at my application and stats, had I applied any other year I would have been in the first round of offers. She couldn't tell me where exactly I was on the list but that I should expect to hear back over the next couple of weeks. For reference, my stats: 3.9 GPA last two years, b+ in stats, 2 first-author publications (in undergrad journals - topics: history of vaccine hesitancy and bioethical concerns of gene editing), TA (1 year) in science communication, and RA (1 year) in knowledge translation - research project was around public health policy development + implementation, and some extracurricular work with the university academic journals.
  7. Yeah! I'm not sure if it ended up being around 800 or more, I have a mutual connection within the program faculty who gave me this rough number. They (as well as admin assistants from both Waterloo and UVic) let me know that application numbers this year have close to doubled previous years. They assume that because of the pandemic, suddenly everyone knows what public health is! (which sucks for those of us who are *hipsters* and liked public health before it was *cool*)
  8. Chin up! if you don't get in anywhere else this year (which is unlikely) you'll apply again next year! It is super common to have to do a few cycles before getting accepted in public health programs.
  9. We all did great! McMaster had upwards of 800 applications this year and they have like 25 spots. We didn't get in at Mac but we will get in elsewhere! Now onto stressing about Waterloo for me lol
  10. Congrats!! I didn't think Waterloo was sending anything out until at least another couple of weeks!
  11. If you dont - I will! lol
  12. not yet...getting a little worried.
  13. Yeah its frustrating - I've tried Michelle's number before and it hasn't worked - I'm going to try again today. I guess the moral of the story is it will either be in march or April lol
  14. That's so weird - why would they tell me March? I've been trying to call them for a couple weeks but I get sent to voicemail saying no one is in the office because of COVID? Are there two completely different universities of Waterloo?? LOL Also every time I've emailed them it has been Michelle who has answered...
  15. Thats so weird... I feel like "by April" likely means before April thought. Like if I say that I'll have something done "by Wednesday" I mean before Wednesday. But I guess I'm not sure if "by April" means before April, or before the end of April... Also the women who wrote my email is Michelle Fluit (Professional graduate programs coordinator MPH, MHI, MHE) I feel like she outranks Joel, her name is first on the list and his is the last - I'm just interpreting, she's a coordinator and he's an assistant?
  16. That's weird... When did you speak to them? I've attached a screenshot of their email which was sent to me on March 8th (yesterday)
  17. For anyone who applied to McMaster or Waterloo @Excel725 I sent an email to both of these programs asking for an update on when we can expect to hear back just because I've gotten some other offers from different programs and I wanted to know if I should ask for decision deadline extensions (I know all the supervisors personally so I don't want to accept and then let them down later) and they have both responded back to me this morning. Mac: Late this week - early next week decisions are going out. Waterloo: They have more than 500 applicants who met the minimum requirements (more than they usually have) so they said that this year will be delayed but they still expect decisions to be out by the end of March, latest. I hope this helps!!!
  18. Even if they were to find out, I'm sure you'd be fine. Everyone drinks in uni, some people get caught and others don't. They aren't going to hold something like that against you!
  19. Flip a coin, assign one school to heads and one to tails. When you throw it up in the air you'll know in your gut which one you want - whenever I have to make a choice I do this - hasn't failed me yet lol
  20. I've applied for McMaster, Waterloo and UVic. I'll just be here waiting ?
  21. Hey! I'm a Mac student (BSc) and im applying for grad here too - unofficial is totally fine - all of the programs I've applied for have let me know that unofficial is fine and they only need official documents once you are officially finished your degree and are accepted. Hope this helps!
