  1. hey y'all! i have some questions about the nyu waitlist email!

    1. does anyone have an idea of when people first start getting admitted off of the waitlist? based on last year maybe??

    2. what's the deal with the paris program part of the email? i know the deadline for the low-residency mfa program already passed, but since they mentioned it in the email, i'm assuming they're reserving some spots for waitlisted people (???) does anyone know anything concrete about the paris program other than what's listed on their site?

    thank you so much ❤️

I would really wonder about the quality of my MFA with that student/faculty ratio... Then again, maybe NYU has it all figured out. Anybody have any insight into how hands-on they are or are not, perhaps from a graduate of the program?

maybe they just have more faculty members than other programs? their faculty list on the site seems extensive

That is my thinking. Funny how they also won't provide the size or our place on it.

Also, to your second message: normally 40-60 per P&W, but someone posted here they are only accepting like 25-30 this year, right? I think I read that. Anyone remember?

i just found this quotation on the FAQ portion of the site: "We have approximately 800 applicants each year. Of these, approximately 20-30 students are accepted in each genre. At any one time, there are about 110 students attending our graduate program."

Jeez how many of us did they put on the waitlist?? lol.

right??? for every person on this forum there must be lots of lurkers and lots of people who don't even know about it so it must be at least like 30 ppl on the list???

  5. also waitlisted at nyu for fiction!!! it's the first positive news i've heard but i'm feeling pretty mixed since i wasn't expecting to hear ANY positive news this year....but anyway not getting my hopes up too much. i'm wondering if anyone can point me to any data about how many people they've accepted from waitlists in the past. thank you!!

Just found a rejection from Cornell in my inbox.  I was expecting it but damn, it still stings!! At the same time, it's a relief to be hearing back from places.   Gonna cope with this by buying a new houseplant & hope I don't get too many more rejections (it's already starting to look like a greenhouse in here).    (0a/3w/4r/5p)

hang in there!! i like the strategy of coping through houseplants

I don't see that on my profile! ?

Are you sure? for me, if i go to my portal, it has several tabs: my portal is under the "student information tab" on the top in yellow and then the course registration is under the "courses/registration tab" maybe it's there and you just didn't know where to find it??

NYU is a very popular program so if they were calling fiction writers I'm sure someone on Draft would have been accepted and posted about it - beyond the fellowship recipients last week. Doesn't mean it's not very soon though. Last year they seem to have called accepted students on Wed 2/26.

that's very reassuring, thank you! sending good luck to everyone waiting for their phone to ring!

the two most prominent offers i saw on draft were fully funded ones. going off that, chances are they're making fully funded offers first. it's wayyy too early in the game for this to be an automatic rejection, i think. hang in there!

also, if you wish, you can check the results page from previous years to see if acceptances/rejections go out on the same day or just how spread out they are.

could you possibly link me to the results page ?

2 CNF and 1 Fiction on gradcafe and same in Draft.

hey y'all new user here!! did the people who said they heard back from nyu give any more details? i haven't been able to sign in to draft, so I'm just curious! do you think nyu will send out the rejections on the same day that they send out the acceptances? wondering if the fact i haven't heard anything means an automatic rejection....
