  1. Sure! I studied very hard to improve my GRE scores (from 159Q 153V 3.5AW to 166Q 161V 4.0AW). I also searched for programs with better fit, rather than picking brands. I improved my CV, highlighting my academic and research experience. I improved my statement of purpose, connecting my experience to my research questions and to what I expected to find in the program. I mentioned faculty, specific courses, labs and research centers. I did this in each and every application. This whole process took all my evenings, weekends and vacation time. But was worth it. I was already accepted to 3 programs, will be participating in UPenn’s candidate’s event and hope to be accepted to more programs. I applied to 11 programs. An exhausting and expensive process. But I think 2 is too risky. Don’t give up!
  2. I made it! I was accepted to the PhD Education Data Science! I still can't believe it. Last year I had only rejections. For those who didn't make it, good luck with your other applications. Never give up!
  3. I checked TC's portal and it says nothing. Nothing from Stanford or NYU either. This is killing me...
  4. Wow! You are in a roll! Congratulations! I haven't heard anything form my the PIs who interviewed me. Still hoping to hear positive news.
  5. Congratulations! Did you have an interview?
  6. I think by next week. Mid-feb is what I have been told. Did anyone hear from Columbia?
  7. You are definitely not alone. Results from Stanford are supposed to come out mid-Feb. So maybe next week. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
  8. This is very kind of you. Concerning the GRE, I signed Magoosh and took a test last year but my results were way lower (159Q; 153V; 3.5AW). So I studied harder, I did all the exercises of the Manhattan 5lb, all the exercises contained in different ETS materials, many mocking tests, and I signed TTP. This took all my evenings, weekends and vacation time. In addition, I did meditation and mindfulness sessions so that I could calm my nerves during the test and transfer my training results to the actual test. Don't believe your parents. Someone who scored 5.5 on AW cannot be stupid. Don't give up your dreams. I applied last cycle and I was rejected by all programs. This time, not only I substantially improved my GRE scores but I also took a lot of time and care to work on my Statement of Purpose. I mentioned faculty and specific courses from each program I applied to. I don't think I will be accepted at HGSE (since I was not invited to an interview), but I am very happy with the results I obtained so far. Good luck!
  9. It does seem like a great program for developing quant skills. This was the main reason I decided to apply there. I also like the perspective of doing research at RAND Corporation. Last but not least, my brother, who obtained a PhD from UCLA, says Santa Monica is the best place in the world. ?
  10. Wow! That was brave of you. Good luck!
  11. I am an international student who got an invite for UPenn's doctoral weekend. Very happy about it! So sad I did not get an interview to HGSE EPPE. I had a strong specific interest in faculty there. Apart from this HGSE disappointment, the cycle is going rather well. So far (in addition to UPenn) I got an acceptance from UConn, interviews from Stanford and Johns Hopkins. Still waiting for Columbia, NYU, UMich and Pardee RAND. Good luck to all of us!
  12. Here you go. One of them was registered as "fall 2021", but was added yesterday.
  13. There was one interview reported on the results page. Anyone who is here? Do you guys know if they send all the interview invitations on the same day? In other words, is there still hope for the ones who did not hear anything yet?
  14. Just checked now and my status is still marked as "submitted". I really don't think the "submitted" or "complete" status are indicators of admission chances. I would guess they are more of an administrative thing concerning the general requirements check list. Don't lose your hopes! Good luck!
  15. I just received an email from my POI (Prof. Eric Bettinger) requesting a quick talk. Before that, the status of my application was "submitted". I am running for the PhD (SHIPS) in Education Data Science.
  16. I think we are all expecting to hear back from HGSE. ? In the meantime, let me introduce myself. Program: PhD EPPE GRE Score: V161, Q166, AWA: 4.0 GPA: 3.3 undergrad / 3.7 master's LORs: strong letters: former boss, master's advisor, and co-author (2 of them were indicated by Apolitical as the 100 most influential academics in 2021) Work Experience: 15 years working with public policy within government and NGO Undergrad Institution (Public, Private, Ivy, etc..): top (in my country) undergrad, top (in my country) master's Research Experience: 10+ years (including multiple program evaluations), many publications, but rather local journals, reports and book chapters What Other Schools Are You Applying To: UPenn (invited to candidate weekend), UConn (accepted), Stanford, JHU, Columbia, NYU, UMich, Pardee RAND
  17. Anyone here applied to the SHIPS PhD program? Any news on interviews? Haven't heard anything and this is killing me...
  18. I have applied for the PhD with EPPE concentration. And am as anxious as you are, @PhDPolicy2022 I guess it is still early for interview appointments. Good luck to all!
  19. True! We can say they were kind not taking so long to put us out of our misery...
  20. Many of us would like to switch places with you! ? If you don't mind, when exactly did you receive MIT's response about you being on the waitlist? MIT was my top priority and the only one where my POI clearly stated that he would recommend my admission to the committee. But at this point my hopes are almost gone. ?
  21. Someone just reported waitlisted on the results page. So maybe there is still hope of getting at least this kind of response.
