  1. I checked in with University of Utah. All their departmental letters to accepted/waitlisted people have been sent out. Anyone still waiting to hear has been rejected. Rejected but oh wells.
  2. wanna upvote but also don’t wanna change the trio. here’s my axe in stead
  3. Do you mean the College of Charleston in Charleston SC? Or is there a University of South Carolina MFA program at a charleston campus? I used to live in Charleston and can attest wonderful things to the CofC faculty and alumni. The city also has a fantastic bookstore there called “Blue Bicycle Books.”
  4. Well, I got the “rejected” from Notre Dame, which is a bummer as a current Bend resident but a relief in other ways. Still waiting on Iowa State, Utah, and Idaho. hmu if you know what’s up with those programs in fiction. As of last Monday, Idaho was still only “halfway through” their admissions process. also, a huge round of congrats to all y’all for sticking it through, showing up for yourselves, and being kind to each other. It is so encouraging to see how thoughtfully people are using this process to fuel writing and self examination as well as contribute to other’s investigations.
  5. A professor of mine once gave all of us students as sophomores in college the job of editing a poem “submitted to the school lit magazine.” It was a little known Yeats poem, and we eviscerated it. The week prior we had just voted Yeats as eminently worthwhile. That is to say, sometimes writing hits different depending on its context, and I agree: keep writing!!!
  6. congratulations!!! I’m waiting to hear from ISU for fiction, and my portal still hasn’t updated nor have I gotten an email. Anxiously hoping no news is good news. I’m queer too and I heard Ames is actually a pretty great place to be out relative to the reputation some places in Iowa have. It is such a dreamy program, so I understand feeling torn between the material and the place.
  7. I’m endlessly pacing in the airport right now waiting for something, anything, on this front. This is the third school where acceptances have gone out according to the results page, and I’ve yet to hear anything: no rejection, no portal update, and certainly no acceptance or waitlist. Fingers crossed for you and me and anyone else out there waiting on the Dame.
